Harrison Butker Sparks CELEBRITY REACTIONS Over Controversial Speech That Quoted Taylor Swift

Ойын-сауық

As Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker continues to face backlash following his controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College on May 11, in which he quoted Taylor Swift’s song lyrics, celebrities, and even the NFL, are weighing in. Singer Maren Morris took to her Instagram Story on May 15 to post a clip of the speech writing underneath, “I choose the bear” - a reference to a popular TikTok debate where women decide if they’d rather be trapped in the woods with a man or a bear. Meanwhile, Rapper Flavor Flav posted May 14 on X, formerly Twitter, “Sounds like some players “need to stay in their lanes” and shouldn’t be giving commencement speeches.” During his speech, the Chiefs kicker had made multiple comments telling people to “stay in their lanes.” On May 15, the NFL issued a statement saying in part, “[Harrison Butker’s] views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

But all I’m saying is usually the camp that says “men need to sleep with everyone’ or the ones that say “women shouldn’t just be birthers” are the ones demeaning the stay at home moms that do way more than just being an at home wife. I also think the trad wife people are full of it too because usually they don’t have kids but bake style themselves and hand their guy a drink all while blogging it but that’s not what a traditional wife is. Yes they take care of the home but they also care for and teach the children and care for the husband too. The husband brings in the money so the wife doesn’t have to work and the wife in chance takes care of the kids and home so they don’t have to pay people to do so. Both are equally important.

The issue I have with this is the general blanket statement he was making. If you want to run your household like this and your wife is on board then go for it but there are alot of young ladies that want to make their own way in life and if and when they get married be a contributor to the marriage heck there could be times they carry the marriage depending on life issues. What if the husband has major surgery and can't work for months. How is the family going to survive??? Everyone is different and that speech may resonate 50 60 years ago but not so much now.

@@keithpete2710 So you are mad about how you interpreted his speech? Cause he didn't say all women he said most and as a society we do need most of the women to want to have children or as a species we are pretty screwed. The children that are raised with 2 parents in general tend do better in society then those only raised by 1, and if those parents are able to spend more time with their children and less time working and paying someone else to raise their children I'm certain that they would be willing to make that trade as long as they can live a lifestyle that they are comfortable with. Just maybe we need more speeches like this one and we can go back to how families stayed together 50years ago and not have over half the marriages end in a divorce.

@MPFXT I might not agree with everything he said, but I was raised in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Back then, society didn't raise us to be neutered, mindless automatons. People were allowed to have opinions and things they firmly believed in. That's how we had meaningful, intelligent conversations, compromise, and moderate views because we had to acknowledge that both the things I believe and the things others believe can be true, and good ideas can come from someone who has different beliefs than myself. I think it's a dangerous thing when the mob controls speech. It's the opposite of America, and dangerously close to totalitarian fascism, but instead of coming from the right, it's extremely anarchist left. It's unfortunate that such wonderful tools as social media and the internet has been twisted to give people who shouldn't have a platform a place to speak. It's like Salem circa 1692.

He said he hopes he and his wife reach salvation through Catholicism. One does not need to keep the Catholic sacraments to have eternal life with Christ. Ephesians 2:8/9 For by grace are you saved, through faith; and not of you; it is a gift of God: not of works so that no one should boast. John 1:9 To those that receive Him He gave power to become children of God, to them that believe on His name.

Just because The Bible mentions something, it doesn't mean that it's endorsing it. After all, The Bible also mentions demons. But if you take the same time you took to try to prove him wrong, and instead read/listen to his speech carefully, you'll notice that he never said that women shouldn't work. "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid." Proverbs 12:1.

So you are saying that its good that more marriages end in divorce then last 10 years, and you think that a single person can raise children better then a couple. That having kids that graduate college while at the same time they are unable to identify all 50 states, name all 2 counties that border America, have no clue about World History or even American History, and can't put together a coherent original thought without using AI, is not a problem. These are the future leaders of our country and being educated is great we need that but apparently our educational system isn't teaching them and the parents need to step up and the only way that can happen is if 1 of them is willing to take on that task and be home. What should we call the person that stays home, taking care of the house and raising the children if we can't call them a homemaker?

Get a grip. You’re demanding respect and purposely ignoring the correct way to spell his name. That’s hypocrisy. He’s simply offering insight to his personal experiences and uplifting young women. If they choose to pursue careers that don’t involve child bearing, then they do that. Women have been continually discouraged and deterred from the fundamentals of what it means to be a woman. Don’t take it personally.

Message to Butker: I heard a little about your background. Your mother is a famous physicist if I’m not mistaken. I would just like to say I’m not here to tell you how your mother was to you, what she did do, what she didn’t do, etc because I wasn’t there and thus I don’t know but what I do know is that you clearly have some mommy issues because of it. My mother was a working mother too. For 30 years she has worked 8-12 hours a day, everyday, Monday through Friday (sometimes weekends). She has worked hard to provided a great life for me and my brother from paying for the high priced schools/colleges we attended to food on our table and clothes on our backs. All that and still making it home to be there for us in every way that mattered whether it was to being there to talk to whenever we were going through something or staying up with us to help us with our homework even after working all day. I say all this to say that your beef is with your mother not with all women who dream big and work hard for the people they love. So I say to you as another man that on behalf of every mother who loves and works hard for their children as much as mine did whether it was from outside the home or inside, I would just like to highly suggest you show some respect to all of them. If you got a problem with that then get help. Just because you have an issue with your mother doesn’t mean every other powerful woman like her should be any less of the amazing people they are to so many people. And leave the LGBTQ community alone. They’re just living their truth, the way they live has nothing to do with you or your family, and even if you don’t agree with all that, there is a way to convey that without being hateful and self-righteous - two things that REAL Christians and Catholics aren’t supposed to be.

I don't see anything there about you father being around so I would assume that he wasn't, and just think how much better your up bringing would have been if both parents were there to raise and support you and your brother. He talks about that too in his speech if you actually listened to it then you would know that already and he did show great respect to the women he was giving the speech to and to his wife. You really should take the 20ish minutes listening to the thing before making your assumptions.

What are you talking about? How many Presidents do we have at one time? There can only be one decision maker otherwise you have chaos. What you are proposing is a chaotic marriage and is horrible when people are not in agreement (Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians). This man even submits to his Head coach playing football, just as many people do to their boss at work. Someone has to take the lesser role otherwise it is chaos. This doesn't take from the other person or stop the other person from raising their points and being able to sway the decision of the decision maker. What you are pushing is chaos and only leads to disfunction. The preaching of this message has caused chaos. Men and women are made different to compliment each other to be a perfect team. What you are weak in your partner fills that gap making you together strong. One is not greater without the other on all metrics of life and family.
