Harris can play any character. Played this scene so many times 😁

So many layers in such a brief performance. He intentionally plays a stereotypically boorish, bro-ey American only to do a 180 and whip out charm and a perfect French accent. Harris Dickinson is great. Also hilarious in Triangle of Sadness.

His accents are on point. DAMNNN

Oh my in the ending it was not clear to me.. he was not an actual client right? He just went for it because matt did not ask anything. But why??

I kind of thought that at first, but the script doesn't support that theory. He says his name is Kevin in the strip club, and Matt's boss only gives the client's surname, McAfee. Harris Dickinson is credited as McAfee. I think his character just represents a commentary on heteronormative bourgeois lifestyle, and its inauthenticity. He wants to get married and wear rings, but in reality "we're all animals" and he doesn't really believe in it. There's this sadness and longing behind all his flashy bravado. There's a suggestion (not overt) that he wants to sleep with Matt. He kind of caresses Matt on the neck right before Matt takes off. And I mean, he's listening to Pet Shop Boys*, and keeps referring to stuff as "queer." Plus this is the kind of role Harris played in Beach Rats. Seems like Xavier's way of planting the flag and being like 'this guy is downlow homo.'

​@@prezrickard I think he says "Then pay" Like... "okay, then pay" or like "be my guest." The French subtitle is "Alors payée" which just means "then it is paid for" So he might have said "Then paid" like a literal translation of the French.

zeiters20 : Oh, thank you! 😊 This movie has so many gems! The film major sister, Dickinson here, Matt & Max’s handjob scene (God, Dolan’s expression!). The ending though, could be better. Man, Dolan is the era’s Cannes darling I feel.

McAfee (Harris Dickinson) is cute, so is Matthias I guess. I don’t think Maxime (Xaviar Dolan) is very cute, he looks drugged out in this movie. Not an attractive look. Hated him in the movie, he treated his mom like shit. Don’t like his vibe.

You have great points, but I think Dolan is showing his craft here. Dolan is masterfully presenting nuances. I think Dolan is, ok i will say it, beautiful... but seems he took pains in down-modulating his looks in playing this character. I think this is for many reasons. We also have to understand the psychological toll that the character has been through and still is experiencing in the film. He is spent and yes, he is angry. His mother seems to just suck the life out of him. I really do not have time to analyze what a train wreck she is, and what dysfunction she helped created for her son. Wonderful movie!
