We are investigating the Hawker Siddeley Harrier and the British Aerospace Sea Harrier, the air saviours of the Falklands. #Harrier #SeaHarrier #AV8A
Which requirements did pave the way for the design of the Harrier?
Why did other vertical take-off and landing aircraft programmes in the West fail while the Harrier succeeded?
What were the variants of the aircraft?
What were the differences between the British Harriers and the US AV-8A?

Welcome to our new content. As the Weapon Detective, we are investigating modern weapon systems of the Second Cold War. The Weapon Legends is about older weapon systems. In our videos, we tell their epic stories which made them a legend. The Weapon Legends investigates these stories, reads between the lines, analyse, and tells the untold. In our videos, you can find technical information as well as historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let the wisdom of history show us what the future would be like. Let’s investigate the veteran weapons of the past together.

When I was in high school, I made whole squadron of miniature sea-harrier, and a model of aircraft carrier. I just love the sea harrier aircraft. Very sad that our Indian Navy retired them as the fleet was old.

Im sorry but they wont sadly. F35 b are taking their place. I love harriers too but i also love the f35s and it is a good switch. But having said that. Wouldn't hurt to keep 50% of em and upgrade them then mothball em. Just incase they need them later. Honestly its suprising that they weren't used more in afganistan. Could of had Airbase FOBs. Woulda been handy and cool

@@dadinkle the main reason why is because the Harrier is inferior in range and payload capacity when compared to the F35B, the only strong point for the Harrier in comparison with the F35B is its unit cost

@@joelchee9308 there is no more room for upgrading harrier jet, that why f35b was developed. Uk will have 60 f35B and option for total 120 jet. Most nations barely have more than 40s 4th gen aging jet.

Many aircraft from the 50s, 60s and 70s killed their pilots. Its off-runway capability could have been useful if the Cold War went hot. Britain would not have won the Falklands War without the Sea Harrier. And second generation Harriers proved themselves in the CAS role during the Gulf War, over Bosnia, Iraq & Afghanistan. So an aircraft that deserves the recognition it gets.

As others said, many planes killed their pilots, however the Harrier it turned out to heavily come in terms of the US having this issue and that being due to how they were training their pilots/operational usage, once they changed this and adopted similar systems to the British, losses dropped quickly.
