You're welcome! My pleasure! As for barbershop harmonies, all the regular practices and ear training apply, and I would add in a fair amount of chromatic practice and ear training as well. It's all over the place in that genre!

Always incredible, thanks! May I ask a question? I love coffee, but it seems to impact my range and prevent me from hitting high notes later. It feels like I have a cold or something. Could it be the coffee, or perhaps it's the temperature of the drink that impacts my chords? Thanks!

maybe the coffee heightens your stomach acid which then triggers acid reflux which hits your vocal chords and makes then inflamed which then doesnt allow proper vocal chord closure, then you push your voice trying to sing like you normally do and then bang your voice is dead. that's what happens to me anyway. since I started my no coffee or spicy food diet i dont get any of them problems anymore.

Definitely some good thoughts on this. Individual differences really come into play when it comes to things like this. Taking myself as example, I drink coffee every day. Usually about two or three cups. I am often singing or teaching at times when I've recently had it or am in the middle of a cup. I personally don't find it has a deleterious effect, so long as it's not too hot. It's worth mentioning though that I do take it black, so there's no dairy in there to confuse the issue. I would suggest experimenting to see if it has any impact on your vocalization. If possible, have your morning cup, if that's what you do, but leave an hour or two gap between your last cup of coffee and your singing practice. Have a glass of water or so and see how your voice is. It may only be that having it too close in proximity to when you're singing is the problem. All the best, Jeff
