A ridiculous premise, but a fun one. I'm bringing you a road test of the Harley Davidson Vrod 10th Anniversary Edition on both the road and the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Read more on www.bridgetogantry.com

I just opened the throttle on open road for a count of 6 sec (give or take) and looked down real quick and going 130 MPH like it was nothing. I felt it had plenty more to go but the wind started to peel the helmet back on my head... needed to get it much more snug so I slowed and re-fitted my helmet better. Now eronomical fit and tight. The power wants to pull you off... torque comes in at about 4000 rpm and is flat to 9000. Very good low end torque as well. Great engine.
For all you people insulting Harley-Davidson's and Americans. You do realize we Americans are large men, hence we require large motorcycles. Also we are married and secure in our manhood. We ride because motorcycling is a wonderful sport with fresh air and sunshine and touring the America homeland is worth a good look so no need to rush it. When out riding we wish to return home safely to our wives and children. Many times we take our wives along with us on our huge touring machines and we go slow. No need to terrorize the little woman. No need to prove that we are men by speeding and racing on public highways. Americans have no need to insult anyone when stating our view point about why we ride large Harley-Davidson Touring machines slowly either.

Americans' average height is lower than a lot of european countries. They're large because they're overweight. If you think cruising down a street is a sport you're deluded.

Did you think he meant that they where tall? Fucking dumbass.. Obviously he meant LARGE as in heavy and thats why they need large machines etc. He never said anything about height so i don't get your stupid ass comment at all...
I love this bike... got the VRSCDXA (2008 Night Rod Special) with ABS braking. Best motorbike I have ever rode. Well designed -- no wasted space -- obvious computer design and Porche influences. Solid as a rock... nothing shaking or rattling... bike is built like it was chiseled out of a single piece of metal. Well balanced... slow stop-n-go traffic I am almost "Track Standing" and at high speed it is icy smooth. If it weren't for the lack of fairing I wouldn't know I was going 130 MPH!
You had me smiling the whole way through just watching you! nice one.
I think I now have the best of both worlds, a Ducati 999R and a Harley Road King. You can't have one and expect to do it all, a sport tour comes close, but for pure rawness and comfort on long rides I'll take the Harley. I'm sure there are other touring bikes that provide the comfort keys, but with the Harley you feel like your part of the environment with that exhaust note singing in your ears as you head down the interstate or any road for that matter. Its not all about speed and acceleration, I'll break out the Ducati for that. Now that I have upgraded the suspension of the Road King, it is surprisingly nimble for such a big bike. Mine is a 2003 model, Peace Officer Special, the newer bikes, 2009 and newer have the improved frame and from what I hear there is no need to upgrade it, good right out of the crate. Lastly, I've been on sport bikes most of my life and there were years where I would look down on the Harley and never ever wanted one, that shows you how my ignorance to the big picture affected my judgement! You can't ride like a fool forever, nor will you stay young if you make it by the going fast stage, if you do then evolution steers you towards a bike that allows you to discover the beauty of the open highway and points beyond.

John S i had a junk sport tour FJ 1000 and loved my Rd. King and yet my vrod is by far the coolest of them all
Monsieur!...what was ze lap time?
Love the sound !
great performance, in 2 weeks i own this bike.... cant wait....
Really loved the vid! Great idea to do a HD around the ring, made my day! Did you manage to get the footpegs on the ground? Did you try hanging off with it :D
so, what was the lap time on the ring? It is a nice ride if I was back in the states, I do not see myself riding something like this in Europe. There is so many beautiful roads to enjoy at a faster pace that it would be a shame to do it on a cruiser (for me, others may enjoy i :-)
How does that microphone taste?
So what was your time?
1) this is 5 years old 2) Vrods have the option of Midcontrols if you wanted to take on the ring 3) the rider admits he hasn't been on the ring in years 4) he admits he normally rides sport bikes which means he doesn't understand the geometry of the bike or the power curve. 5) Let a Harley factory Flat Track rider try the same stunt and lets see what the times are.

Don't be such a but hurt harley fanboy. He had some nice things to say about the bike. But lets face it even a harley flat tracker with a good rider is never going to set the track on fire.
That thing is flying on the straights!
lol, I really love that bike. Did the pegs touch down around the ring? I haven't seen them touching down as often as other HD's and the ring is a real test to that, haha.
MUCH slower than I would have thought them to be but, nonetheless, it looks like a thrilling ride haha!
The guy in the Porsche is like, WTF? As you cruise by with your feet out in front of you, just kickin' it, LOL.
Did it make it all the way around on one tank?? LOL Love the rods.
Very "light" driving. Just for fun, its obvious he was far from the limits. AND, riding is not about riving always at the limits, mainly when YOU will pay the bills if you do a mistake and hit the wall. PS: I LIKE all Kinds of Motorcycle, i learn to like them all overtime, and im only 30 y/o. Nowadays i Have an Yamaha Motard just for fun. It can Jump and do cool corners even at wet road conditions.
Definitely need to sort the sound out.
I am not a big fan of Harley Davidson but I certainly find this bike really nice
If you can, try going around on a Buell 1125R, or an XB12R, would enjoy watching that, and I think that you'd enjoy doing to lap.
It's not a Problem of the bike. They guy on it has no clue how to drive it fast. He dosen't reach more than 200km/h on long straight sections. I reach 230km/h on small country side roads without any problems riding my VRSCDX night rod.

Truth Thank You Speed Safe
This is why i love nurburgring videos. It's like a hide and seek of sumptuous cars and motorcycles of all kinds and types :D
I find it quite bewildering really that so many people just "DO NOT GET IT" when it comes to Harleys or ANY other item someone may choose to purchase for themselves. Sure, if your thing is to ride a really quick and/or fast bike to its and your limits then do so. If however you only want a 125cc commuter bike then that is cool too. Nothing anybody else rides bothers me and it should not bother anyone else really. Why are people so hostile and narrow-minded? I think that we all pretty much agree that no one buys a V Rod if they want to be the fastest kid on the block, but if you want a bike that certainly has charisma and, once fitted with a nice set of rowdy pipes, quite possibly the greatest sound ever produced by a motorbike then the V Rod is a great choice. Big, comfortable, effortless cruiser that does exactly what the buyers wanted. Leave them alone if you do not like their choices. Try to find peace and tolerance in your life and you will be a happier person for it.
heard one with pipes ? I own a 2010 R1 and a nightrod special and both bikes cover all bases. and another thing these bikes are not slow.
Was Bane talking?
I love the vrod's looks. 130hp? My snowmobile has more. But I cant do 200kph.
@cesurapeldoorn

mine does 253kph on the gps
I never seen the vrod red lined at the top end. No one really rips thru the gears and maximize the power band through the gears. I want to see the top speed! Peace

Little late reply, but I got my V to 230+ km/h. But the position makes that speed not so comfortable. Me being long and slim doesn't help haha.
5:15 if you dont want to listen to him jibber jabbing.
Do they have SPECIAL days for these slow vehicles ?
it would help if i could understand what he was saying
It's funny, people who don't normally like Harley, like this bike, yet Harley riders hate it. I think that's exactly what Harley wanted.
It looks like we have a genious here. I can tell just by your few keystrokes.
Cool, but if I was going that route, I'd probably get a B King.
I feel like you are shifting too early to be honest. It starts to pull at 5.5 and you shift at 7, yet it redlines at 9k (or 8.9k, can't recall exactly). I shift mine at 8.5 (Night Rod Special) and doing 110k in second gear and rolling on it is just sublime. It's a custom as well, so got to keep that in mind.
Tried all of them...the truest motorcycle in the world for the streets is a Harley.
Dont scream with the mic right next to your mouth, or put it further away and scream. Lol hard to understand a lot of what your sayin.
My man over here sounds like the damn adults in the peanuts

Bad Ass bike!!
save time, jump to 5:15
It was THE best looking Harley Davidson ever with a great powerplant . nothing like regular old schoolish harley
It would be interesting to see the same expiriment conducted with one of the professional riders from the AMA XR1200 series of racing. As those riders race machines with a similar riding position, or at least far similar to this bike rather than the typical sports bike riding position and then see what kind of numbers they can make on the machine. Much like how the stig can always take any car and totally embarrass the times recorded by the TG presenters.
Get the 1200 Streetrod to do this.....you would be suprised
It's a cruiser....albeit a very fast one. A Vrod muscle is the ride for me!
You made me spend 10 minutes of my life on your video and you couldn't have the decency to tell me your lap time? I'll subscribe when you post the time.
Best bike Harley makes. Don't know why they cop so much shit.
This is not a track bike ! But its okay if u juss wanna have fun at the track !
Badassery!
It's a shame you apparently had to shout to provide commentary. Cool nonetheless.
Captioning please.
I think a lot of Europeans have been snorting the exhaust fumes of the rice burners for too long. They have very negative opinions about Harley Davidson's and that's a shame because they are preventing themselves from experiencing what a real motorcycle is all about. A stock VROD is capable of reaching 145 to 150mph. If you get the screamin eagle version of the VROD your talking about 170 horsepower and more importantly, well over 130 foot pounds of torque. But, that's why there are so many choices. Not everyone can appreciate the finer things in life. For those people, the break your back, herniated disc Japanese sport bikes suit this genre just fine.
@yteka99

Only 150mph? And that's the bragging point? lol The VROD is the least Harley, Harley ever assembled. It's motor is Porshe designed. There's no lean angle allowed due to hard parts and anything labeled "Screaming Eagle" better come with a free mullet hair cut and third gen camaro.

Your deluded worshiping of all things H-D is second only to your mildly xenophobic ignorance of Japanese motorcycle innovation & engineering. The rest of the world will continue to enjoy the thrilling experience of high performance modern motorcycling whilst the 'real men' in the good ol' US of A forever haul their fat arses around on stodgy, agricultural lumps of 2-wheeled junk.
You managed to do it without destroying the bike......that thing is not meant to go around a racing track... It must have been fun :-) but a bit strange I suppose :-/
HD V-Rod vs Ninja Hayabusa GSR 1000 SS1000R ... ... Stock 0-130 KPH V-rod win
Hold the gears until 9k! Shifting far too early!

So very true. Most riders of V-Rods either don't understand this or are afraid do do so. Work the engine and gearbox hard between 6 and 9 thousand rpm when on a course or twisty road like this.Keep it out of the rev limiter of course. You are not going to hurt the engine, that is what it was built for. Listening to the bike breathe through the velocity stacks is as exciting as hearing the exhaust note as you work up and down through the gear changes.
Man I love this ride. N it's Harley with porche. Not porche that came to Harley for help with a motor. So yea it's Harley's nicest bike they built. If porche built the whole damn thing then it would say porche on the damn bike. Talking to dick weed down there
You do realize Harley has been working with Porsche for over 20 years and got more help designing the Evo engine than the Revo right??
This needs subtitles I think!
You nut, that is freaking hilarious. No mention of your time though :(
why. I love them for it, but why lol
He hee thats the whay to drive them ;-)
One thing it wasn't designed for is twisties, and turns. Even the much vaunted, but little purchased "R" version didn't care for them. The MoCo said that they wanted to build a bike that had its roots in the quarter mile. Still, not at all a bad showing.
My 2-1 on my VRSCF sounds loads better than any sport bike or original Harley.
HAHA its like seing Jim Carrey play a serious role :D
lol basically they wanted a new consumers but because its liquid cooled and doesn't have they same sound Harley riders don't like how ever I do like them and im thinking of trading my sportster for this
Please take my advise. Watch this video on mute. Why is he yelling?
Apexes are not a well known thing to this rider, maybe it grounds out too easily
lolz... fuckin a
Choppers are the best looking and sounding bikes ever but their performance is making me sad. I like to lie to myself that the Sportster is worth it somehow for going fast. I mean at taking corners fast. Cause the VRod is a fat ass. Typical sport bikes are really not my style. I dont even like the VRod cause it doesnt look like a proper chopper.
The audio is horrible
He can't handle this bike, you need to drive it like a racing bike, the acceleration kicks in at 5000+rpm which is when this guy changes gears!! This is 0-60 in under 3s, the top sports bikes in the world have a similar 0-60. You just need to know how to ride this.
dude you dont need to yell the audio is crap. pull your head out of your ass. Porsche did not help them with the engine. they already had it in the race bike's. all they did was help them redesign it for street driving. look up the video birth of the A-Rod on KZread. I have this bike, and most of the so called super bike's have a hard time keeping up with us. we have a group of over 30 v- rods that ride together all the time. the 240 back tire is for looks. you guys do not know shit about bike's.
bikes less then half the price beat it lol watch that episode of pink where the vrod loses to a suzuki shit box thats not even a sport bike
not that fast? if you cant drive, your slow not the bike
wtf? seriously? be careful, your back will break
Lol show me the video of a non-Destroyer Vrod owning any of these bikes. U wont find 1 vid. Promise.
not impressed
this shet is extremely slow in corner .

better with 300 rear
why u didt drive fast sucks
Why is it called the VRod "Muscle" when it turns in such a piss weak performance? 130bhp?!?? On the Nurburg it'd be MANY tens of seconds behind any of its contemporaries from Italy, Britain or Japan. These fat slugs would need a turbo or nitrous install just to keep up.
@rockthestrand

Diavel. VMax. The VRod engine is extremely low performance for an engine of that weight and displacement. I don't care if a cruiser bike is a cruiser bike... but the Vrod "Muscle" just tries to pretend to be something its not. Theres nothing performance about it at all, just a huge, heavy, underpowered bike.
@scamper246

You'd be surprised. They're pretty peppy. Also a lot more comfortable to ride than a sport bike. They're not the fastest by any means, but they are not nearly as slow as your everyday cruiser.
@toranamunter
9 жыл бұрын
***** it claims to be a muscle bike. I never compared it to super bikes. Diavel and Vmax are both a similar concept, and far outgun the VRod in every respect. The VRod makes a nice noise but doesn't have any real performance whatsoever, despite its marketing.
A piece of shit compared to what, exactly? The build quality isn't any worse than anything else in H-D's lineup, and it's arguably the most "modern" motorcycle they've designed to date. The fact that some die-hard fans don't like it doesn't make the bike a POS.
