They inspire so many kids and adults to want to dance. That’s what’s important here!!! They aren’t boring like a lot of these other ballet dancers! 👏

I don't get why Briar did the Lise variation. Doesn't she have to do the Harlequinade variation when she is in the Harlequinade Pas De Deux?

  • @PerfectDanceVideos

+Tapping Ziegsx I don't get what you are talking about. To me, this certainly does follow the Harlequinade Pas De Deux fairly closely, though of course it is only 3 minutes long. Compare this with a 8-minute version by Christina Andreeva and Oleg Ivenko from a Russian TV program in 2012. The female solo part begins at 5:40. Pretty similar. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYais7GSiqyalrQ.html On the other hand, here is a video of a 10 year old doing La Fille Mal Gardee, Variation of Lise, Act II at YAGP. It's completely different music and a different dance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/en2VyrV_qpnHf6g.html

+Perfect Dance Videos the variation is in both la fille mal garde and harlequinade, but its more commonly danced in a fillle.

Well, they’re pretty good but it goes to show, just coz u can do one style, u can’t do the others the same. I think it wasn’t good bc ballet has to be perfect whereas contemporary is all down to interpretation and having solid technique, not perfect which ballet requires. They were good tho

As a ballet dancer, as I’m looking at this, I’m just like, what? What is this choreography? I understand that there was probably like a 3 minute limit or something but still, you should’ve stuck with something else or just took out some parts of the ADAGIO. I did this pas de deux at YAGP and I know a lot about this pas de deux. I don’t even think I should call this a pas de deux because I’m so confused, why is the girl doing the la Fille Mal gardee variation, and why are there such horrible and misplaced jump cuts in the music? I see people in the comments saying “GOALS” and I am just facepalming. You should’ve just done most of the ADAGIO section because it’s only about four minutes long and you could easily just take one section out, but no, you had to put four 8 counts of two variations, adagio, and half a coda! Smh

As a fan of amateur dance competitions, I feel I must enlighten you as to the circumstances of this duet. Jump is part of BTF and they run various dance comps across North America for kids that are 5 or 6 up to 18. Ballet is one of the categories, but it hasn't been all that popular at the comps. Some comps now even reward studios for submitting ballet entries like this one. Anyhow, these two are great at their regular styles - contemporary mainly - and their whole studio was very successful that year. For fun, the two (BF/GF canon) decided to do a ballet duet in addition to all their solos and groups. It didn't place, so enough said on the critique please.

+Anna Roos I think critique is too harsh. No, they are not ballet stars. This was a regular dance competition where ballet entries are rare and contemporaries and such are more popular. This entry did not place. But CDC did dominate the competition with their skills, maturity, and innovative choreographies. I found it charming that Briar and Myles worked up a short ballet number for presentation at the event. It shows how versatile these two can be. I had not heard of them before this year, but CDC is now popular for two good reasons: 1) the TV show some of their dancers are on - The Next Step, and 2) they are freaking fabulous! See my CDC playlist: kzread.info/head/PL9Dn9J3OYPak-SE9qqHZL0WbNfaMTaT-C

Briar isn't a ballet dancer. But her feets are good and her jumps and extension are absolutely insane, her technique could be not perfect. But you can trust me, she's good at all styles. (she's mostly a jazz dancer)
