Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium
Explore the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium equations with The Amoeba Sisters! Learn why this equation can be useful, its five assumptions, and how to calculate genotype and allele frequencies with p and q values! This video does assume the viewer already knows vocabulary such as genotype, phenotype, and alleles from our previous videos.

I really need the answer to my question please help out if you know it. If we are considering the recessive allele do we consider (q2) and (2pq)? Or just q(since it says allele)

I'm a 30 year old college student and I can't tell you how much I appreciate these videos to help me through my first Biology class! I graduated hs 12 years ago, and I definitely don't remember what I learned back then. To say I needed a "refresher" would be a lie, as I'm basically learning this all for the first time. Thank you! The videos are really cute and helpful!

My college genetics class did a terrible job of explaining it. This video made it so dang easy. Thank you!
Man, I'm gonna miss Biology. Your videos were like 60% of our class the whole year, and now I have to move on to Chemistry... :( You guys made Biology enjoyable, watching your videos were my favorite thing to do in that class. Maybe I'll be able to see some videos in my future school career, idk... But I'll definitely come back here in my own time even so!

I wish I had this video last year in AP bio! My teacher was pretty great, but I never fully understood the equation until now. I'm definitely sharing this video to my friends currently in bio. Also, is it me or are your animations getting even cuter!?

This is what i watched in science 3 years ago. I’m surprised they’re still doing videos.
Thanks a lot, Amoeba Sisters ! you are absolutely coool.
Hey Amoeba sisters! This doesn't relate to the hardy-weinberg equilibrium but since it's your most recent video I thought it'd be more likely you see the comment here then in a video from 2015! So, I have had to answer a question in biology asking why calico cats are always female (aside from cats with Klinefelter's syndrome or Chimeras) and, I have no idea! I watched a few videos trying to understand it but I'm still so confused! Why is it only in females? How does it happen in the first place? Thank you (I know you probably won't see this comment but it was worth asking)!
this isss theee besttt ever vedio on hw principlr......i ammmm sooo happpyyyy i finallyyy understttoddd!!!!!

This helped me understand the topic so much more. Thank you :)
