Both WCW and WWF did cinematic matches decades before this, and likely other, smaller, promotions tried even before they did. The issue is that this was the first good one, hence why we hadn't seen one in decades.

I agree that this was hilarious and creative, but the actual MATCH part wasn't the best. Segment of the year maybe?

I've not watched wrestling since 2002, and have not followed anything in TNA....but this....this is an actual work of art. It's beautiful.

Some dangerous stuff. When Nero jumped out of that tree onto the ladder. That looked painful. Then when Matt lit the fire, there must have been fumes or accelerant pooling around him because he was enveloped in the flame for a second.

***** Well to each their own. It was innovative, I admit to that, but to me it just looked weird. It wasn't entertaining to me and it just made me miss the Hardys from a long time ago.

It's remarkable for such original and entertaining content to exist in a business which stays safe and is unwilling to take risks for the betterment of the product. These segments are redefining what sports entertainment is and can evolve into. Instead of pointless backstage appearances by legends, here's a possibility for all who are unable to compete in a ring anymore. For example, I'd be just as excited to see Austin beat someone's ass all over the Broken Skull Ranch as an actual Wrestlmania matchup which could never compare to his earlier work. Austin invading Pillman's home on Raw continues to feel exciting and fresh to this day. What the Hardys/TNA and Lucha Underground have brought to the table may just be what it takes to entice the ever sought after casual fan to watch again. Without question it would revive burnt out wrestling fans who have for years now been vocally begging for. Imagine, if you will, Jim Ross on commentary for Sting vs The Undertaker in a graveyard match or Daniel Bryan vs ANYBODY anywhere.

***** They nearly left me and really deserved it during the Daniel Bryan sloooooow burn 2 year journey to the title only to have to retire. They ruined his last few good years while he was the most popular wrestler in the world since Austin. I haven't trusted them since but with such an amazing roster now and HHH's influence starting to show on Raw and Smackdown, I know it will be in good hands down the road. It also makes me think the torch is already in the midst of being passed from Vince to HHH.

Say what you want about this, but The Final Deletion is easily one of the most entertaining things to come from the wrestling industry in a while. It reminds me a bit of those crazy Attitude Era storylines that were really over the top (Mae Young giving birth to hand, Undertaker sacrificing people). This may be batshit insane, but it's a breath of fresh air. I applaud the Hardys and TNA for trying something new.

I give props TNA and both Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero to do this match because it is a trendsetter for the other cinematic matches that you see in other promotions, especially after watching The Undertaker vs Aj Styles match at Wrestlemania just now.
