I've 4-wheeled the Rockies for over a half-century. I saw you make the NUMBER 1 mistake when fording or driving in creeks or flooded trails in a place like Colorado--excess speed. Excess speed is asking for disaster. Clear creek or river water with a rocky bottom is deceptive. Deep holes can be easily overlooked. If your vehicle drives into to one, you can be in deep water up to your windshield or worse in a second. If your engine ingests water, it's game over. Many years ago, I got my old (even then) International Scout in water that came up almost to the windshield fording a creek. I had to be winched out, but, fortunately, the engine kept running and never ingested water. That said, 4" deeper water and it would have. As it was, I wound up having to change the engine oil, transmission oil, transfer case oil, and differential oil, as they all had gotten some water in the oil. Fortunately, the water was clear and free of most any dirt or sand. And, that was back in the day when 4WD vehicles were not chock full of electronics. I suspect a current generation vehicle would have had catastrophic damage to its electronics if I had been driving one under the same conditions. Bluntly, such fording and water driving should be left to older 4WD vehicles that are not expensive, electronics-laden vehicles like the Ranger that you were driving. By the way, that Scout that I was driving then was one of the rare Scout II's with the Nissan diesel option. That engine had a manual engine shutoff and no electronics. Once started, it could be driven with the key turned off.

Its still a while before i get my RR but before i do anything like this with mine I'm going to be replacing the side steps, front and rear bumper with the pre-runner style. It gives more clearance for bigger tiers (i think i still need to chop the crash bar tho) as well as helping with approach and departure angles. There's also a company (i think in Australia) that replaces the factory side steps, with factory side steps that are flush with the body and not hanging down an extra inch or so. Once i have all that done ill take it to the mountains. Until then, trail running in eastern NC is flat and i don't have to worry about all that lol. Also, for tiers, I'm not going any higher than true 33s. Toyo Open Country AT III are my go to for brand. True 33s will break that 11' ground clearance tho and help a little more. Its all the same stuff i was going to do to my 2019 Raptor before i had to sell it because of Bidenomics.

Great video David, thank you for sharing it! It looked like a great day on the trail…hopefully the Raptor isn’t too dinged up.

It was amazing, I haven't been to experience it owning a f150 raptor the past 6 years. Damage is mainly cosmetic and nothing too serious thus far

First video I’ve seen doing real trails…like to know if and how you used the rock options and front locker. Really anticipating your video on an after action report of trail damage, opinions of capabilities, and any possible modifications you might do to improve Colorado trail running in a ranger raptor……

Thank you and it was fun to experience since I haven't been able too before. Yah it's not great but thus far nothing serious. The truck is built for high speed stuff... 32.7" tires is the biggest challenge especially aired down. More to come and thank you!

Hardest I have done so far is hell's revenge. I used everything that truck had. Without the hill decent I am sure I would have ripped the front end off. No noticeable damage except the skip plate and one more area underneath but no real damage.

Did you do Hells Revenge in a Ranger Raptor?

@RichieGarage yup. Only got the little damage on the way out. This guy was supposed to send me video but still haven't seen it in my email. Only have the clips my wife took when she was scared to death. Kept getting alot of thumbs up and a couple you brought a brand new truck on this? I didn't air down much as ground clearance seemed more important
