Hardest Route in Croatia - B je to! 9b | Commented Climb by Adam Ondra

Спорт

B je to! is a route that I bolted on summer vacation back in August in an impressive cave of Vranjača in Croatia. ✊ Back then, I had no time to finish it off, so I returned in late September for colder conditions. On the second day of the trip, I tried really hard and despite multiple moves where I was about to fall off. I did not fall and clip the chain of the first Croatia 9b. ✌

B je to! 🤣 "A je to!" is a reference to an ancient.. chechoslovakian animation series, which is a proper nod on its own already - but upgrading this name to "B je to!" is next level, it happens to translate in slovenian/croatian directly into "this is B!", which is cool since, you know, the grade of the route itself.

I even went to a movie theater recently where they showed some episodes. In Holland though, they did add an extra layer by having a voice over added that is really good and adds an extra layer that is fun. Ok, and I guess I must accept that I am just very old...

Second crux looked absolutely horrendous, amazing send! I hope Adam doesn't lose the hunger he clearly still has. If Chris Sharma can send 9b+ at 42, there's no reason why Adam can't continue pushing for insanely hard routes into his 40s also, meaning we have at least another decade if he stays healthy.

I'm from Croatia, but I never climbed at home because I could not afford it - only when I moved to Canada 10 years ago, my journey on the rock started, and I was already 30. Now I can't image my life without it :) I climbed for the first time in Paklenica, and in Croatia in general, last year and it is amazing. Thanks Adam for contributing and promoting Croatian climbing scene, your legacy is cemented in our sport. Such a role model for many. Best regards
