If you program drums and you say you program drums because that was the way to achieve what you wanted to achieve with the music, so be it. Fucking tired of people wanking over technical ability over how the music affects them. Like that one gobshite sending messages to every metal band he can find to ask "DO YOU USE TRIGGERS, SAMPLES OR QUANTIZING?" Like, if you can't tell just from listening, who gives a shit. Unless you're lying about it, but that's your problem. @photonpilot__3 жыл бұрын
100% Agree totally natty. Yes, he has triggered on the kicks, but are they quantized no! His timing is still great with his feet, but it's not a straight quantized machine gun. You can still hear the human tempo inconsistencies that exist. In David's case, the triggers simply enhance the sound of the kicks to help them cut through the mix. As when you're playing at these speeds it's VERY difficult to have a clean attack and loud volume on the kicks.
@350575 ай бұрын

I've been practicing like him for over a year and yeah I'm nowhere close, been playing drums well over 20 years. I will tell everyone if I achieve it and how long it took me, the hardest part at least to me is getting the rolls even even maybe for a second or two but it falls apart fast and I can't do it when I want to, its freaking hard, oh and I practice around 4 hours a day everyday if not more to the point where I can barely use my hands and have to take a day or 3 to recuperate even then I try to practice for at least a few minutes, it sucks cause some days it feels like I'm going backwards.

you can hear the inconsistency in the rim shots like not in a bad way but they wont always sound exactly the same if its natty and thats how you knows this is undeniably real
He also has a video of this without the Nile song laid on top so it's just the drums audio. And you should check out his current day blast beat technique, it's pretty natty 😂
I love these videos. Can you do the Thru Our Scars drum video by Flesh God Apocalypse?
hahaaaaaaaaa!!! Fuckin hell!! only 54 seconds in and Craig's already annoyed with us! US! This geezer is an absolute genius. I wonder how long his sentencing would be if he didnt have his kit to take out all the aggression on XDDDD Love it!
Lmao natty or not?? Sick video
You're gonna need to check out Kevin Paradis 🤘
At the beginning of David’s video we can read "Conservatoire of Music and Art" which is why there are chairs all around and I guess that place sounds awesome in person.
Diepold always said he uses triggers, no shame in that, specially in this style And yes, he is THAT TIGHT irl Source: myself because I did FOH for his band Cognizance once

The thing is there is no shame in using triggers. Nobody can make drums hearable at this speed anyway so triggers are necessary at these speeds.
the hihat looks like it got some felt on top... but his smile is almost unnerving... somehow ran into this video just today...
This foo is dope! Daddy Diepold never disappoints!
Have u seen his Despised icon cover?
What do you think of flesh god apocalypse’s use of double strokes
100% Agree totally natty. Yes, he has triggered on the kicks, but are they quantized no! His timing is still great with his feet, but it's not a straight quantized machine gun. You can still hear the human tempo inconsistencies that exist. In David's case, the triggers simply enhance the sound of the kicks to help them cut through the mix. As when you're playing at these speeds it's VERY difficult to have a clean attack and loud volume on the kicks.
Spencer Prewett made a statement once about triggers, “it doesn’t mean you hit the drum any less quickly than you did” (paraphrasing) but that nails it imo.
I love this dude. He is a fucking monster!
His posture and technique is so effortless fn beast!!
Insane drumming. You should reacto to Dan Presland of Ne Obliviscaris!!
"our NAT is set to moderate" very clever haha
this video was captured at our music school located in deutschlandsberg^^ thats why so many chairs are around
Would love to see some commentary on Kevin Paradis and Ken Bedene.
David is a fucking monster, been following him for years and christ he's bonkers.

Gotta say, I like that you explain why something sounds real and when it's not. As someone who can't play anything for shit, it's ace to hear and have it explained what the differences are.
so funny to speed up the video when craig plays the song at 0.5, so the song sounds at normal speed but he sounds faster
Someone thought this was fake? I think I'm done with life if I'm surrounded by people like that. And, the subject of triggers is crazy that "drummers" still don't understand them.
I can confirm this is real, since I played with him in our youth :) when he was 16 we used to cover some Slipknot songs and he could play it all - but even way better than Joey!
I can confirm he pulls stuff like that off and it doesn’t sound like shit live. Had the luck to play at a small festival where one of his bands headlined.
How tf haven't you reacted to Anthony Barone yet??
Audience came for bosa nova and left at the blast beat
Have you ever heard the band Shadow of Intent?
Dredg shirt? Murat Diril cymbals? a man of taste.
This was awesome to watch. You should do Natty or Not on Devin Attard. He's just as quick and a great drummer.

Incidentally I’m pretty sure when most American brands say “made in Turkey” then that means they’re made in the Murat Diril foundry. So like TRX, Soultone, etc. they’re just made to the company’s specs and branded for them.

Dude you should check the video of the infant annihilator drummer. Does things with his feet I didn’t know existed
I can’t wait for the shit storm when you do an episode on someone who’s cheating with editing, etc. 😂
I think after this you must do a reaction to Nile's drummer George Kollias .Yes David is in Obscura now , an incredible band but did you think he can play like this so fast without triggers?? Is impossible!!
@stephenneil9345

Triggers has nothing to with speed.
You should check out the George Kollias drum playthrough Shall Rise Shall be Dead. Decent sound in that.
Isn't he a classically trained musician studying in Austria?
I must agree, Nile is so good ♡
btw the cymbals he plays are from murat diril..pretty good quality stuff
knock knock knock knock knock knock knock knock knock knock brrrrrmm tsssss , its david faster than light.
of course the bass is triggered, that's like a staple of this style
His technique is immaculate.
He looks like a DCI player with the discipline
leaving my comment: you think Gene Hoglan's double strokes (or Travis Orbin's) wouldn't be audible without triggers? They hardly record with them.
@reynlord666
3 жыл бұрын
Yes depending on the speed they wouldn’t sound anything like they do once they’ve been triggered (which happens on 99% of heavy recordings, AFTER tracking) No shade, it’s simply how it’s done
his eulogy cover is nasty too
Just noticed he's wearing a Dredg shirt. RESPEK! Dino C. is such a crazy hard hitting drummer
Please do a Der Weg einer Freiheit Reaction. That drummer is soo sick live
Well regarding what you said about "there is no way you can play like this guy and play any other way", he also has a Dave Weckl cover on his channel of Tiempo de Festival. So playing like him doesn't limit you much apparently 🤣
My favorite extreme metal drummer is krimh, that guy is fast but he handicaps himself because he hits everything so fucking hard every time, feet and hands. Its so satisfying to watch
Think this guy needs more cymbals
Just wait till he sees joey jordison
I mean....I just came for the Type O tee honestly.
This guy has same video only DRUM AUDIO version, also you should check george kollias stuff (the guy that composed that song, Nile drummmer)
Anyone got a link to the vid?
I've been practicing like him for over a year and yeah I'm nowhere close, been playing drums well over 20 years. I will tell everyone if I achieve it and how long it took me, the hardest part at least to me is getting the rolls even even maybe for a second or two but it falls apart fast and I can't do it when I want to, its freaking hard, oh and I practice around 4 hours a day everyday if not more to the point where I can barely use my hands and have to take a day or 3 to recuperate even then I try to practice for at least a few minutes, it sucks cause some days it feels like I'm going backwards.

want to see the different styles david can play? look up his cover of tiempo de festival by dave weckle.
Bruh are you Oliver Sykes?

TRIGGERED
wtf man he's doing those blasts at 2:24 with one foot what a fucking beast
David is a beast
Love what you said about double strokes. It’s such a lame ass way to get those speeds. David is an example of someone who worked his ass off to be able to okay it with real single strokes, and single strokes with power at that. David is one of the best out there! Period.
As someone with a dredg tattoo...I can tell he's clearly got fantastic taste.
yah David is a force to be recon with he is the real deal
Not sure why people hate on doubles on the kick so much. At 280bpm even doubles on the kick are hard to get sounding good all time like this guy. He also switches between singles and doubles on the bass, and pushes on his blasts. This dude is the real deal it's actually insane.
@briantopps5638
Жыл бұрын
i dont hate doubles on the kick as long as you can do them well. i have a problem with doubles with triggers when the sensitivity is turned up all the way and the doubles sound great but are actually shit. but other than that i have no problem with doubles. clearly this man is real as hell

Dont know the drummer or band, but I 100% doubt theres any quantizing. Probably some compression and stuff to make everything sound fuller but this is real for sure.
With gating and compression, things often sound more consistent and “triggered” but yeah, he is a natty monster.
