NATTY OR NOT: Chris Turner (My PHD thesis and reaction to 40 Roll)

Музыка

TLDR: I think he’s real, and if you weren’t skeptical too then you don’t understand just how difficult it is to play the drums like this.
I do not care about your opinion but please post it so I can ignore it.

I have a daughter who is getting into music and when she first started out she asked why my drums don't sound like all the stuff she hears on the radio or on albums. Now, this was a few years ago so she had no idea about producing/mixing, etc etc etc...but take that same example and carry it forward a few years. If you have someone who doesn't have that explained to them they can very easily get into music and think they sound like shit or aren't doing something right if they don't really delve into the specifics behind the "natural" vs "post-production" sound all instruments make. Yeah, he touches on the subject in nearly all of his videos, but I feel like it's a valid topic to bring up for comparisons sake as each video is one of those two things; natty or not. And my comment(s) is/are not meant to be negative towards you personally, merely having some dialogue. cheers

Just to add to this. Using triggers doesn't make it fake. It does make the hit louder and that's less effort. U have covered this in the video but some folks think triggers can make anyone good. Thanks for calling out editing drum parts in, that is a disservice to all drummers imo. I'll also add that you Cleary have a great will of knowledge in this department so I possibly skipped passed what you may have already spoke of. Great analysis man. As a drummer I can see you know what you are saying.
