Love that old hammer. My father had one just like it, and an axe to go with it.

You don't have to take it all apart to change the brushes, just 1 screw near the power cord strain relief and the back half slides backwards.

You’re wrong about changing the brushes, there is a single screw just to the right of the cord on the back of the unit, remove it then slide the piece over the cord to gain access to the brushes. It’s that simple.

Hey. Thanks for honest review. Do you recommend or did you change the grease in the da polisher. I just bought it and have been coming across these 3-5 year old videos where people have advised to change the “Chinese grease” from the unit. What are your thoughts on it?

Did you change out the grease?

@@kanyeeastlolz I did change it. I used “Red n Tacky” by Lucas. It did bring down the noise level substantially at lower speeds, however at higher speed it was still too loud. Vibrations were really bad, and it stalled at curves of the car while polishing as it’s not as powerful as some others. I returned the polisher and went with Adam’s 9mm Throw polisher. I really really like it. I did not have to change any grease, it isn’t loud, vibrations are minimal doesn’t stall, overall a superior machine. It did cost me 90 USD. If you want the cheapest product and that’s all you want, go with Bauer. But if you want a machine that you’ll enjoy working while not making a big dent in your expenses, get either adams or Maxshine polisher. And. If you want to best in the so called “budget” options, Griots Garage’s G9 is the way to go.

@@kanyeeastlolz I did change the grease. It was still too loud so I returned it as the vibrations along with the loud, high-pitched motor noise really diminished my "user experience". I used Red and Tacky by Lucas as the grease. Switched to Adams Polishes 9mm Swirl Killer. It works GREAT! You really can't beat 40 dollars(on sale) for a polisher if you only want to go a cheap route. But, if you want a better user experience and care about your joints and not have a pins and needles sensation in your joints for the next 4-8 hours after 1 hour of use time, in my opinion, buy a better machine like Maxshines, griots (preferred), Adams polishes, or Rupes for that matter.

I actually just did that this past weekend with Lucas White Lithium. this polisher doesn't get nearly as hot as the bigger Bauer 20mm long throw polisher but I think the noise decreased a little. Either way, this polisher went several years and many many full paint corrections without any issues. for $40 on sale, it's a great deal.
