Neil Smith the DANDY DJ from Murfreesboro, TN shows how he modified an inexpensive pair of atv ramps from Harbor Freight so they can be used for loading full carts of equipment into a minivan. This mod should also work for wheelchairs, not only for access into a van, but also for getting over steps and small stairways.

    Another guy made a folding ramp out of wood, but I like your 'dandy' method too. Thank you.

    I use these ramps continuously. Still going strong. Not even a dent in these things and they don't take up much room. I stole the idea from another youtuber.

    I have had the Rock and roller for years. I just bought an Astro van because lifting my Subs into my navigator got to be such a pain. I just thought of this idea earlier this week but I was going to use wood. Now that I've seen your video, screw the measuring and sawing I'm going to Harbor Freight right now. Thanks for the confirmation

    I'll be using those same ramps today for an event. Unfortunately I no longer have a garage so they have been under a wooden deck for the past 3 years. A bit of surface rust but still get the job done fine.

    Thank you for this. I'm a bass guitar player. As with most bassist, my speaker cabinets are heavy. The lightest one is 45 lbs. I've been wondering how to get my Rock 'n Roller cart up into my Honda Element, especially given a weight lifting restriction after hernia surgery. This is it. I'm headed to Harbor Freight soon. Thank you.

    I was just on their site. It looks like they weigh about 23 lbs apiece. And there may be other, lighter ones elsewhere. The idea is brilliant.

    I no longer have that van. Driving a 2013 dodge grand caravan now. Fully loaded, those carts hold a couple of hundred pounds. Never had an issue with the ramps. You can also walk on them no problem.

    Your kind of a neighbor to me as I am in Paducah, Ky. How about trying ratchet straps instead of cargo nets to hold the equipment. One around the side and one over the top and bottom should hold everything on the rock n roller cart nicely.

    How heavy are your carts? Is your van back of your van flat to the door or do you have a a lip/ threshold around the bottom of the door frame?

  • @DandyDoesIt

    @DandyDoesIt

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great questions. My carts can get pretty heavy depending on how I load them. It's sometimes like a football workout getting them up that ramp but it's better than piecemeal. The back part of the floor is actually the bottom of the rear seats flipped over backwards so when weight is applied, because of the cushion, they will dip below the lip of the van. Not terribly though. You can always roll some towels or a moving blanket to bolster beneath. You also want to load the left side first. It's difficult to explain but you'll see why in practice. Hope that helps!

    You'll want a proper loading ramp with side rails for something that big. Either that or a powered lift gate.

    This is a very old video. I still use these ramps and they have held up very very well. I would say just go to the Harbor Freight website and look up ATV ramps. These are the 6-ft ones.

    Please take WHEELCHAIRS out of the title. This is very dangerous for a wheelchair person, and misleads people that think there is a $55 alternative to a ramp van. This is why medicare wavier programs in TN only cover portable ramps, misleading videos by people that dont even had a wheelchair user and dont understand saftey issues.
