HAPPYLAND - Inside Manila's Most Dangerous Hood 🇵🇭

Welcome to what is called the most dangerous and densely populated neighbourhood in Manila, Tondo. Also known to be one of the happiest places in the Philippines, going by the nickname 'Happyland'. We went to investigate this neighbourhood, meet it's kind residents, and try some of the local street food at Ugbo night market. Filipino people are some of the kindest people on earth and the residents of Tondo are a great representation of the countries kindness. One of the reasons the Philippines is one of my favourite countries!
Enjoy our day in Tondo!

You missed the way the lychee seller tapped the cash over is tables. That meant you were his first customer of the day and its a ritual to help him bring more sales.

Just be careful when you go to crowded areas here in the phils. Make sure your body bag, wallets, celfons are secured in front of your body because there are some bad elements among the crowd lurking to find would be victims of snatching or pick pocketing. But all in all, enjoy the beautiful, hospitable, kind people and beautiful places of our country, the Philippines.

@Seal On Tour in the philippines when someone dies especially if they're from a poor family having a gambling session at the their wake is a big help for the bereaved family because they collect the money (we called tong in tagalog) earned from each gambling table and they used to pay for the funeral expenses , and i think its only in the [hilippines that have gambling sessions during a wake 😅 sometimes they also hve drinking sessions witj karaoke if the late is a drinker and loves to sing😄

The Happy land of now used to be a killer land. Not even cops able to enter in narrow streets during the night. Tons of gangsters and shootouts. Now, its a symbol of mixture of poverty and hyped energetic neighborhoods. Still be very careful walking in the streets everywhere in Tondo. Especially during the night because there are still hot spots in there.

That was more than likely not butter. I believe that was margarine. Filipinos often mistake margarine for butter. If that was butter, it would've melted right away in the open air heat here in the Philippines. Butter is also too expensive for a mobile cheese corn food stall and that cup of corn would've costed twice the price. Also, that guy @8:15 said "melon and magic sugar". He probably said it in jest as magic sugar is dangerous, illegal, and is banned in the Philippines(he and his mate laughed while saying it so he probably said it as a joke so you're probably good lol).

Sometimes when you see a gambling to a funeral the family allowed it because of the profit that the players gave to them when they won the game. Because sometimes they can't afford the funeral service and they used to get money from everyones potluck and when the payment is enough that's it they buried the body with the casket and thats show the Filipino hospitality culture and caring for someone. even though they are not family relatives

Prolly the main reason. Ive known someone who died just because he refuse to take a drink with one of the locals in the area esp near north harbor, and got stabbed with a knife. Although there are certain areas that are safe, there are also some areas that is worst than bad. Locals are friendlier than foreigners than the co-locals esp if you are not originally from tondo (Harbor side)

One thing about Filipinos is they do not mind being video compare to the US some people do mind and some will tell you you need their permission to be video not knowing there is no expectation of privacy in public places. Not sure if Canada has the same laws and attitudes of the people.
