the first time i listened to this song, it felt happy and peaceful. when i kept listening to it (because its amazing) the words kind of sunk in and its so depressing and beautiful at the same time. “happiness is a butterfly” sounds so sweet and innocent, but followed by “i try to catch it like every night; it escapes from my hands into moonlight,” made me realize how bitter it truly is. like looking for happiness but never finding it because it escapes like a butterfly. wow.
