    My Dear, dear lockn00b, you're flogging a dead horse! The last video was excellent. The Chinese DD Pick isn't. And as my grandad always used to say, "a bad workman blames his tools." 😂 Cheers and all the best to you and yours 👍 🍻

    I'm just going to say the same here. Irrespective of whether the tool is any good we shouldn't support Haoshi ripping off others work by buying this. No new thinking there to justify.

    Did BB and LPL rip off the earlier picks? I mean, this seems to be a crappy pick, but i don't think one could identify the original inventor of this style of disc detainer picks at this point in time.

    Who-copied-who debate notwithstanding, you need to ask WHY you would choose this pick. It’s clearly not an improved design (round shaft, etc) so what does it have going for it where you could make a rational argument for choosing it over the Sparrows? Usually, Asian items have price going for them. Cheapskates like me will sacrifice (some) quality to save a buck. Sometimes many bucks. But that’s not the case here. For the same price, you get an unusable tool. Hard pass. If you’re looking for tools on [unnamed] Asian websites, suggest you look for Lishi tools, plug spinners, and dimple picks, to name a few. You can save a lot of money, and still get very usable tools. Get your picks from the usual suspects.

    Nice video, great way to spread the word. When Sparrows first launched that tool it was listed for $1,000,000 USD. So the knockoff was a good deal. But now not so much.

    At that price point there's no benefit to getting the knockoff, even if you could find it for half the price I'd still go with the Sparrows for severial reasons. First off, just on the practical side. Sparrows tools are made VERY well, and their QC is solid, so there's MUCH less chance of getting a lemon. In addition, Sparrows customer service is EXCELENT. Over the years I've contacted them severial times, mostly to ask questions or offer suggestions on a few of their ads on FB, and they've always been responsive. The ONE time I had an issue with a product (the Doubletap pick I purchased was missing a few tips, they sent me an entire new set of tips, with expedited shipping, free of charge) so in the RARE instances something does go wrong, Sparrows will make it right.... Good luck getting any sort of support from the knockoff. Secondly, while I don't know for a fact, I assume that LPL and Bill get some sort of royalties from the Sparrows picks. Both of these youtubers are AMAZING assets to the lockpicking community and deserve our loyalty and support.

    I don't think they get any royalties. I think they just Licenced it to be made and sold by Sparrows, but they retain the ownership of the design as far as I'm aware.

    Not supporting it or shunning it but it’s definitely been up graded since this one you have. Now it comes with 2 tips (that fit) and the shaft is square so can’t slip. It’s also £20 see me at the show if you wanna see mine 👍🏻

    Frankly it looks like a typical bad Chinese knock-off of the Sparrows tool. The fact that they couldn’t beat the Sparrows price seems odd, or just demonstrates the work needed to make the item in general. At 1/2 or 1/3 of the price it might be worth it but not at or near the same price.

  • @LockNoob

    @LockNoob

    I do like the Sparrows tool, BUT, when it does eventually get very hard to find, Then this one is an option. Most of the complicated manufacturing has already been done on it so all that is left is a bit of filing and Dremel work. That said, it is so obviously a direct rip off of the tool that BB and LPL worked on (It is closer to those than the Sparrows one) I feel the moral obligation to not buy one. Even as a spare.
