Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

Thank you for this. I just received my DSO2C10. Gotta love Amazon Prime Day. I was able to buy some really cool stuff (a programmable linear power supply, a signal generator and more) and saved a lot of money. This is my first oscilloscope and your video made this scope a lot less intimidating. Clearly I have lots to learn! Videos like this go a long way in taming the mystery of things new to me. Thanks a million!

It’s a weird thing CHF I have it also but lack the swelling. I’m used to seeing the large ankles and swollen limbs from my time in the fire department and the ambulance service. I was very surprised when the heart doctor told me that both sides of my heart failed. I got so bad I couldn’t walk ten feet without stoping. I have recovered some but still have difficulty breathing. The only thing I really could do was watch videos for the first 8 months my ER rate was 10 it’s now about 40 according to the docs. I enjoy watching your videos. The morons seem to do stupid comments on all channels which is sad instead of saying thanks for putting out a video to the creators they would rather insult them. I’m here to say some of us appreciate and understand the commitment to making videos.once again thanks for sharing your knowledge of this subject.

I was surprised to see that much shielding on a sub $300 scope add in I2c and cann protocol decoding and this scope could scoop up a big chunk of the hobby market. I am curious if it is really capable of hitting all of its claims but I also know very few hobbiests would ever need a scope at the high end. Great video as always Paul.

When I started in electronics all I had for equipment was a multimeter. When I got my own scope I knew I was in the big leagues, and I figured out how to use it for everything. But these days I barely use a scope. With all of the $60 sig gens, spectrum analyzers, (TinySA,) and network analyzers, (NanoVNA,) with ever more features that I have now, it seems like my 200 MHz O'scope just gathers dust. I seldom even use the multimeter anymore, either, except for quick continuity tests. We now live in a golden age of sophisticated, tiny, inexpensive, USB or battery-powered, high frequency test and measurement equipment. Life is good.

I had a DSO5102P as my main scope for three years until recently. Hantec makes really good inexpensive scopes with good features. This scope seems to have a faster processor than the 5100 series, but seems "chopped" in other areas, like the hardware counter not displaying :( During the I2C decode, it looked like it was at 25kS a/s and 4k. Is that the most mem points and speed it can do for I2C? If so, going above 100k I2C will not be possible :( What about SPI? Can you use the EXT port for the clock-in? Thanks.

Hantek makes the BEST value scopes hands down. I ordered the 70mhz 4072C but they sent me the 5202 MSO by accident so I got the 200Mhz version which sells for over 400 for about 300. Not only that but in Germany Voltcraft sells that scope for 800+ through Conrad. I used the money I saved to buy the Signal Gen which the 5000 Series is missing compared to the 4000C but I came out way on top because now I have 2+1 channels of 60Mhz instead of 1 20Mhz If I buy another scope any time soon it will be a Hantek 7000 series.

It's often a waste of time offering serious answers to questions about what our knob-forested test gear does (and how many we actually need... all of them, duh) so I sometimes just say the oscilloscope is a twiddly pressy activity centre for nerds. The control test feature on this scope looks like designers decided we'd actually enjoy that, and I think they're right!

I enjoy your videos. Thanks for the effort in making them. They have inspired me to order some basics and start playing. I do have one request and it is a variation of things you have done. How about a video on making a randomly flashing LED? I have figured out the 555 on some level and I realize it would take a few more components to do this but I would like a little more info on generating a "random" length, variable pulse. I'm thinking like controlling an LED, MOSFET or BJT making them go on and off at randomly changing intervals and lengths. Another thing I think folks would be interested in would be speakers. Like having speakers be the analog input to control something, and LED, switch, transistor, etc....

Dig around the web and you will find someone has done it more than likely. If not, you may come across something similar you can reverse engineer. I wanted to design a switching power supply for a car amplifier when I started out so I cobbled together a 556 timer and some junk somehow made it work using an old amp as a guide. Sadly my level of sophistication hasn't changed the last 20 yrs until I too bought this scope. Lol.. it's a fun yet frustrating hobby.

I don't see this on your workbench in later videos, so did you decide to keep it? Could you (easily) remove the red tab and the protective film (it is between the case and the LCD)? If you do decide to do a follow-up video e.g. using the trigger of serial protocols (would be good) then turning off the sound in the utility menu is a good way to go? There is a useful function that remembers all the last settings e.g. V/div, horizontal timebase, etc. if you don't twiddle knobs for about 10 seconds. Later, if (probably when) changing the settings causes the system to hang and you have to power the unit off and on, it will be exactly as you left it. I like that "feature" a lot and it's better than nothing. The print menu can be bypassed by directly using the "Save to USB" button. It is a good idea to copy all existing screen prints to a "Saved" folder before starting to save a bunch of prints because the files are not time/date stamped and it can get confusing if you have new ones mixed in with old ones. Only one probe? To be fair, Amazon's description does say only one probe is provided.

Look really carefully and you will two little Red Dots these indicate which value you are changing high/low digit press and turn V0 to select the digit and same to shift between value and high/low digit. Tricky but easily mastered when you figure it, hope that helps :-)

When I googled "lemontree chips" I get ads for potato chips 🤡 Overall a good value for under $300 especially with the built in decoder and other features. I like the different colors they used for the front panel LEDs. How would you compare Hantek scopes to Keysights with similar features? Is Keysight worth the extra $$$. Thanks for the excellent review. I ordered that exact same model (with an extra 150MHz probe) about a week ago, still waiting for it to be shipped though. Will comment again when I have received it. Edit: FedEx delivered it today, and I am very impressed. It's not quite at the same quality level as an HP or Tektronix scope, but it's decent enough, looks good and performs adequately, and it's unmatched in terms of value. Very happy with my purchase!

It would be interesting to know if that same circuit board is used in their "upgraded" scopes. Is that same board used in the 100MHz, 150MHz & 200MHz scopes. If so, then software determines band width. Probably a flag in the software that limits the 'scope's bandwidth and not the hardware.

Judging by the questions you are asking... the DSO5102P might be more than enough, however this is newer and I believe better. Being said that, I have still the 5102P and for my needs is more than enough. The difference is around 20-30$ in Aliexpress... Personally if I hadn't any scope at all and I need to buy a relatively good new one on the budget side - I would take this one.

Awesome entry scope. One thing I see that's particularly nice about this Hantek versus the Rigol DS1000Z series is that the Hantek can turn off the menus and use the full screen for signal display while the Rigol always has menu columns taking up portions of the left and right sides. Plus it's not much more to step up to the Hantek DSO2D10 to get a 5MHz waveform generator. (DSO2D10 $ 280 on Amaz on today). Even if you wound up having to buy a second probe this scope's a real bargain.

I'm 37 and just started getting into electronics a couple of years ago. Well, I've tinkered with electronics here and there since I was really young but just started building my own circuits the last couple of years. An oscilloscope is about the only piece of equipment I still have yet to get. I've been out of work for about a year now due to health reasons and just can't afford one right now. In your opinion/experience are the cheap small ones like the Q15001 worth buying?

Amazon shows this unit in both a Lab version and a Benchtop version. Lab version comes with only one probe, Benchtop version comes with two. Lab version is about $30 more. What's the difference between them? If you want a built-in signal generator go for the DSO2Dxxx variant - DSO2Cxxx does not contain AWG.
