I met a girl online, who is Vietnamese. After a few months of talking, I went to visit her. She gave me the exact tour you gave in this video, as a Hanoi resident. Her insight was so fascinating, but I appreciate that you give a guide to experience the same, life-changing trip I did (and without a local). Thank you for letting me relive my trip, and I hope to move there with her in December. I can't wait to go back. Hanoi is home :)

I was in Hanoi in December 2023 and on Train Street. You can still walk on the road so your comment is correct. Yes, the gate is across the track blocking regular people to just walk in but the cafe owners are standing outside of the barrier and bring you in and are legally allowed to do that. I have pictures of me on the side waiting for the train to arrive and photos/video of it passing me by. The train times are 9am 12 noon and 3pm so to get there 15 mins before is recommended. you're welcome.

Hi guys! A word about train Street...if you head south of the train station (south of P. Kham Thien street) you can still walk the tracks to a bunch of cafes and restaurants. It only seems to be blocked off closer to the old quarter area where the tracks tend to get more overrun with tourists. Check out Hanoi 1990's or 65 Railway Coffee. Keep the great content coming, cheers! 👍😊

I just love your videos! Have been watching them for awhile now - found you guys when I was planning a trip to Assiniboine. We must have similar travel interests because every place you post we have either been there or it is on the top of our list! I was wondering if you could offer your advice on our Southeast Asia trip. I wish we had the time you did but we only have a little over 2 weeks. Thinking of going next October (2025), starting in Northern Thailand (Ha Long bay and Ninh Binh), then going to Nong Khiaw in Laos (wow!) and ending up in southern Thailand (in the Phuket area). We are not fans of big cities - we like to hike & kayak and be out in nature as much as possible. So my question.... do you think we should split the time evenly between all three locations? It would give us 4-5 days in each spot. Or do you recommend spending more time in one area over the other? thanks!
@worldwildhearts
23 күн бұрын
Thanks! Haha that's possible! And that sounds like a great trip! Ninh Binh and Ha Long are nice. Nong Khiaw is awesome too. Would add Luang Prabang as well if you have the time. For Thailand, Phuket area was our least favorite. It's very touristic and doesn't has the same beautiful beaches as elsewhere. But there are areas around it that are really beautiful.. like Khao Sok, the Phi Phi Islands, or Krabi. Not sure you're going to any of those? I assume you're flying out of Phuket? Would spend 5-6 days in Vietnam, 4-5 days in Laos, and then the remainder in Thailand!
