A Door : you are absolutely right!! I am 50 years old and I have seen a lot of TV and films in that time... I can honestly say it is not only the best television show I’ve ever seen, it tops all the films as well!!! All the dialogue is pure poetry, the actors are sublime and the set is as beautiful as any master painters canvas!!! I have watched all 3 seasons 4 times and I still find new things in it! Takes your breath and soul away. It is So deep, and unmeasureible to explain. The two are one. Bryan Fuller, and only Bryan Fuller could make that moment so memorable, that everytime we see it, we feel an emotion of such magnitude. Beautifully done by both Actors. The turn of Hannibal's head tells the whole story. And we are there with them, feeling so honored to witness an act, without comparison to anything we've ever felt in real life.

I’m pretty sure Hannibal was well aware of what Will was gonna do. And it makes sense that he would want a death like that... series has established that will and Hannibal can’t be together. So only way for both of them to move on, is death of the other. This is a perfect ending since Will finally saw the real Hannibal. There was no turning back from that. Will finally became the same thing as Hannibal...

@@62sy I agree! but they're not dead. watch the after credits scene again, a table set for three (including Bedilia). Bedilia picks up a knife and hides it, revealing she's missing a leg. The legs on the table cooked in a very familiar fashion.

That look in Hannibal’s eyes when Will rests his head on Hannibal’s chest… it’s like Hannibal lived a thousand lifetimes just for that moment. No one could’ve done that better than Mads

Honestly, I don’t think any show can ever top this ending. This is so symbolic as Will is finally accepting his darkness but still clinging to the light. The fall is both a test of fate and a rebirth. If they die, Will had killed Hannibal and the monster he himself was becoming. If they live, then they will continue murdering together. And seeing that the song literally says “I will survive, live and thrive” and the after credits scene prove the latter has happened. God I hope we get season four.

I appreciate NBC giving us 3 seasons when they could’ve easily cancelled it earlier due to lack of views but I wish they held on for Season 4 cause we all know Hannibal has a very loyal fandom. Well, I mean the song was written for the show. I don't know how much of the editing in sync with the music was on purpose but since in movie and show production there is pretty much nothing left to coincidence, it may very well have been intentional :)

It was so shit... this ending made me want to rewatch the show and see it again, I feel like I got a pay off from the years of building up and following wills evolution, its a tragic, bittersweet ending that works, will accepted who he was but couldnt live with himself or hannibal afterwards, beautiful and so sad and conflicting as an audience to witness, the most fucked up romance in tv history. Game of thrones was just trying to keep me blinded and pull the rug last minute. I cant ever watch that show again, not even the good seasons, because they all feel like a build up for a big nothing... it doesnt have any themes, its just one big spectacule with nothing to say...

Here in 2023 after just finishing this for the first time AND OH MY GOD.

Yes! It exudes sex from every fiber, and I am quite sure that was Bryan Fuller’s intention. In my 50 plus years of watching television I can honestly say this show is the best show ever made! Hell, it is better than any film I have seen! The entire monologue is the best poetry ever written, the actors give the best performance I have ever seen, the stage settings are magical dark art masterpieces, in short it is a masterpiece to rival all the old world painters and poets combined!! Hannibal is pansexual and will sexuality is fluid. The creator ssid they were going to explore the more romantic and sexual side of that in season 4.

I still can’t believe they had the guts to make it canon. And this is apparently toned down - Mikkelson and Dancy were totally willing to make it romantically explicit. Clever idea to turn Will’s storyline into a composite of Starling’s, though. The actors had incredible chemistry.

This way makes more sense and it has more chemistry. Hannibal was alone so was will. It was not a cheesy love story. It was a story about two people finally finding someone one understands another perfectly. Hannibal was always trying to show Will who he really is. Will was in the beginning trying to not step out of moral lines which he has nothing to do with and doesnt represent him. Yes It is a story about a psychopatic killer but it is not that surficial. They just dont go and kill people. They dont it for the sole purpose of fun. They are the apex of being human. Their understanding is like from the view of god.

This scene was SO good. In a way, this had parallels you could draw to a sex scene - not a raunchy, steamy one - but a deeply cathartic, visceral, and emotionally intimate one that finally happened after several years of pent-up tension. You see Will and Graham circling Dolarhyde like wolves, exchanging a knowing glance with each other in mutual acknowledgement of the fact that this was the consummation of their twisted romance. And then they both lunge in for the kill, each delivering their killing blow at the same time. This is their duet. Their ballad. Hannibal rips into Dolarhyde's neck at the same time Will eviscerates him. This scene left an impression with me that I found myself dwelling on for days after watching it.

2024 here, just finished the three seasons almost ten years after the release of the series and my oh my! The acting, the aesthetics, the decors and the spraying gore are still quite actual and on point! Where was I ten years ago? I wonder how I got to miss one of the most exquisite Tv shows ever. 😮❤

What makes me only _slightly_ insane is the fact Hannibal doesn't pick up the axe on the ground to finish Dolarhyde, even though it's _right there._ He could read Will's thoughts by only offering a glance at him, and he knew what the other was going to do. He had to make Dolarhyde vulnerable, so Will could slice him open. Poetry in fucking motion. Truly they are murder husbands.

Ok but The Dragon finally gaining his wings and fully becoming who he wanted to be as he died was PURE ART. Jesus this show is spectacular.

i love the clear contrast between hannibal and will at the beginning of this video. you can see hannibal on his feet- clearly still unstable, but still moving- stalking like the fully fledged predator that he is, ready to pounce at any second. then you have will, who is new to this, not yet able to fully stand on his own but still holding that darkness of being ready to kill. the look hannibal gives him is one of pure adoration, watching as will finally gives into his darker urges, covered in the blood that is black in the moonlight. he has finally fully transformed, and now together, they are a pair of lions preparing to bring down their prey together. just the way they attack frances is so brutal and animalistic and i absolutely adore it. it's perfect for them.

I love this ending. It gives me the liberty to imagine my own ending for them. They either don't survive the fall, which for me relates to them being eternally together, or they survive and continue with what they have started. I'm satisfied either way, as long as they are together.

I feel like the point of the conversation they have when they arrive at the house about how the land is eroding into the sea is to say that they survive the fall.

Even though the show was cancelled, the season 3 finale has a beautiful / fulfilling ending to the series. The relationship between Hannibal and Will is very fascinating to watch. They both have a love and fascination for each other where it isn't sexual, but is an emotional and psychological love that is genuine and real. Will taking a leap of faith off the cliff with Hannibal was a test to see if they either both live or die. If they live, falling off the cliff was a baptism for Will so he accepts his inner monster and both him and Hannibal set out on a murderous killing spree that Hannibal has always wanted for the both of them. If they die, both Hannibal's reign of terror ends and Will's suffering from being split from being normal / a killer ends and is put to rest knowing he has accepted his love for Hannibal, but also has taken him down. Whatever the outcome is, it's a beautiful end to the series and characters.

I miss hannibal and will, and their changes in relationships and all the other characters. season 1 was amazing, 2 was fantastic tbh, season 3 was great too. I won't ever forget this show, and I'll miss it but I'm glad it's over and the ending was not lingered on or just bad (game of thrones reference)

Loved this ending. They are not dead. They just took a leap of faith. Bedelia is gonna be eaten cause they gave her many chances to leave and she didn't take them, she overestimated Hannibal's fondness for her and Will didn't really like her. Alana is fucked. Hannibal always keeps his promises. A season 4 would be great. Ik some people worry it would suck but I don't believe so cause it seems the directors or writers had more material already prepared before it was cancelled. In my opinion, shows only become horrible when the writers get lazy, change their original route, run out of ideas, and/or pressured to add more.

Yes, they are. You're not surviving a cliff fall that high, and the show itself made that quite clear to us. In any case, it was the perfect, most fitting end for two such as they. Americans are too used to happy endings (I'm American, btw), but what people don't understand is that this WAS the happy ending for them. There's nowhere to go but down from there, had it continued. They ended at the peak, which they should have (even if it wasn't by choice).

IT'S BEEN 6 YEARS BUT I AM STILL HOPING FOR SEASON 4. The 3 first seasons were a masterpiece and if a season 4 were to be announced, oh boy, let me tell you how high my expectations will be.

I couldn't disagree more. The first season is a masterpiece, indeed. Exciting, mysterious, dramatic. The second season, however, after a few episodes, everything went downhill, including the third season. Why? The delusional character development, I tell. Nothing made sense, after some season 2 episodes. But, it's good that the majority appreciated. I'm curious to see what happened to them.

i think its quite good like this. Will and Hannibal deserve this epic ending and if there was another season it couldn't be as perfect as this is.

@@olivierr245 According to Bryan Fuller, Hannibal and Will survived, and the two other chairs at the table were definitely for both of them. Besides, I don't think she has the skill that Hannibal has to cook her leg that beautifully. That's trade mark Hannibal meal prep right there.

Just google "hannibal season 4" I don't know if Fuller is still trying to get season 4 picked up by another network because the articles I've seen are older, but he does talk about will and hannibal both being alive and the direction he wants to take with them if he does manage to get season 4 going at another network. Ideally, he said he wanted the show to end where the movie "silence of the lambs" begins. In order for that to happen, Hannibal would definitely have to be alive.

i just finished this series 2 going on 3 days ago and will literally never feel the same way again. i went into this show oblivious to everything. and came out with a void that will never be fulfilled, this scene is so raw and beautiful. i am forever going to hope for a season 4.

Oh, I am right there with you!! I read all the books and watched all the films years ago, so when it was announced a “television version” was coming out, I didn’t bother watching it because I couldn’t conceive how anyone could ever top the books or films and it never occurred to me for one second that the television version would actually be the best of them all!! Boy was I WRONG!! Imagine my brain exploding when I finally decided to sit down and watch it in 2018 years after it already ended!! Still kicking myself for that one!!! I am 54 years old and so have seen a great many shows and films, but NOTHING compares to this damn show!!! It’s better than all the old world painters and poets!! It is a masterpiece to top all other masterpieces!! I’ve watched all 3 seasons 6 times now and I still find new things that I missed!! In fact, it’s on Pluto for free right now so I am sitting down to start my 7th viewing 😱 In my opinion this is the BEST show ever made!! Cheers

Yes, remember the horse/chrysalis scene ❤️ How Hannibal wanted that hunger to kill from Will to be his. He finally got that, but also a new chapter with Will!

Idc Hannibal is so underrated and should be up there with other great shows like Breaking Bad. This ending was perfect.

Hannibal was probably one of the most empathetic serial killers out there. He had a lot of empathy, but had such a mastery on it he could control who he gave it to. Hannibal truly loved Will and he's the only person who knew him. They were soulmates in a way. Beautifully written.

And that is Will's true feelings, at that moment he knew he was going to throw them both into the sea, so he could be truthful with himself even for just a split second. No more deception, that's why Hannible didn't sense anything. Because Will wasn't hiding anything.

"I WILL SURVIVE"

The song is literally 'Love Crime' I mean-

1:41 *Hannibal knew what was up as he looked down the cliff and he accepted it gleefully.* *The ending is perfect*

I'll never get tired watching hannibal over, and over... and over again.

I think this scene was the only time Hannibal experienced love and safety.

@@xanzusx this is the perfect ending. I feel like once you get this level of impact and emotion you can’t really just go “Surprise! They both live another day to hunt Buffalo Bill!” Hannibal was ahead of its time and found a great balance between the ugliness of serial killers but finding a way to make it artistic. The audience questions its own morality as we all look down and contemplate falling off the cliff.

it's perfect I can never have enough of it and every time I re-watch it I remark something new, literally obsessed.

Years later and I’m still obsessed with this show. We need a new season 😭😭 I can’t get over it.. it’s just so well written, it’s beautiful.

If Netflix is considering Season 7 for " Lucifer" why not "Hannibal?" They would make So much money on Viewership alone.

Just finished it. Oh god it’s perfect. Will finally accepts who he is with Hannibal. And he ends it before it can begin. I would do anything for more of them

This scene is a metaphor, behind lecter was the house not the cliff, they did’t actually fell, it tells how will accepted his inner monster and how lecter accepted his inner care, so they both descended into it, then lecter keept his word and ate dr. Demaurier and so others.

Luis Herrera You’re right! I don’t know why I didn’t notice that Hannibal was on the other side. But I did see where Bryan referred to this scene as Wills rebirth, accepting the madness and plunging into it with Hannibal. Bryan actually laughed at the fact that people thought Bedelia cut off and cooked her own leg. If she did that why get the fork and hide it? Why does she look nervous? Why are there 3 chairs? I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to understand that they survived. They continued on as happy murder husbands.

OMG !!! Good point. I thought it was strange, i was like: " well they're wounded but in 1 second, they walked quickly at the edge of the cliff, how is this possible? it is a filmmaking mistake? " So maybe you're right, because all this series is about metaphors

At the very least, Hannibal is a strong swimmer, and Will is an expert boatman. Of course they pulled each other out of the sea. Then there's always Chiyoh available to help them with recovery.

Please tell me that you did watch until after the credits which showed Bedelia seated at the dinner table, missing her leg and with the dinner table set for 3 people 😱 this implies they definitely survived their “fall” 🤔 A lot of people never watched that far and so think they died.

They can't live without each other, so they decided to die in each other's arm. Will decided to be with Hannibal, and that's the last design of Hannibal-devotion and realization of love.

I finished this show today. Can’t believe I started watching in a month two weeks ago. I loved it. So sad that more people didn’t see it. Than I understand that maybe many can’t see it because it is so raw. Personally I loved it! So well made. 10/10

I feel everytime I see it ( and it's often) it's the first time. Mads Mikkelsen says with just the turn of his head more than all the dialog in most movies. Thank Bryan Fuller for bringing Hannibal forever in our hearts...and our Souls. They will never leave.

When I started hear8ng this song...when I saw Will eyes and Hannibal circling back like that, I transcended, euphoric moment, intense fulfillment my god the seasons lead so beautifully to this

Honestly, i've found that almost always ...the show endings i've seen are either unsatisfying or dowright horrible(I'm talking about you GOT). Hannibal is perfect. Bless whoever wrote this episode. I dont even mind if there's no S04. I'd love one, 'cause we all know they survived, ate Bedelia's leg then ran away, but still..This ending's perfect too.

I swear that the relationship between these two men is absolutely unparalleled, and the world will end before witnessing something like the one between these two men. I can never describe it. Is it love, hate, or complete similarity and consistency? It's really amazing
