Hankook | Dynapro AT2 Extreme Tire Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This review is all about the Hankook Dynapro AT2 Extreme. Hankook has worked hard to imorive on this design from the Dynapro AT2. The Dynapro AT2 Extreme replaces the Dynapro AT2 in Hankook's lineup, and it's a nice improvement. Hankook uses a proprietary compound formulated to improve fuel economy, and provide cut and chip resistance on rough and gravel surfaces. Time will tell if this is a decent tire, I'm not a huge Hankook fan, but their quality and engineering keep imoriving, so they're definitely a manufacturer on the rise.

Like most guys out there, I've had everything - BFG, Toyo, Nitto, Falken, etc. - and the most recent pair of Hankook AT2 in the previous RF11 generation. They were possibly the best all around AT tire I've used. Smooth and quiet on the highway, great on trails and in the snow, and very durable and stable. I'll be trying these new AT2 Extreme very soon.

They're becoming a powerhouse IMO. I worked at a tire shop about 20 years ago and 80+% of the blowouts that came in were Hankook. Today I have the OG AT2s on my SUV and looking to buy the new Xtremes for my truck because I'm so impressed with them.

Update: Got them on my Tundra and 35s now feel/ride like stock tires. Dare I say my lifted truck feels nimble now. Haven't taken them off road yet, but I'm in a rural area outside Spokane and the steep hill to my house was hit with snow/ice. They gripped great going down and I didn't even need 4wd on the way up. These puppies rock.

i bought a set of the previous rf11 (not extreme) for my 2009 F150, and had a great experience. I actually put 85,000 miles on them, and only rotated & balanced 3 times. They were great in the snow, rain, and mud. My next truck was a 2012 that had brand new toyo HTs on it, and they were terrible. basically the same truck, different tires, and a completely differe level of traction. I scrapped the toyos after just 30k miles, and I bought cheap westlakes from walmart. the hankooks had gone up to $220 each vs the westlakes at $126. Two years and 30k miles later, I can see why they were cheap. They have great traction and keep great balance, but I can see that 10,000 more miles is all I will get. They are just too soft and wear easy. But at almost 1/2 the cost, its not really a ripoff. Now westlakes are $160 each, and hankooks are $200 each.... Plus the hankooks are a much sexier tire. I'll be buying a set of hankooks next summer. Bet your boots.

After about 4 punctures and patches, I got rid of them at 50,000 miles. I bought a set of the Cooper AT3 XLT, and they are as quiet as the AT2. Much better traction in wet and slop. No punctures from nails yet. Have had them for 34,000 miles now. It will go another 20k easy. Very quiet and no roar as it ages and wears.

@floridajames04 my opinion is based on an actual experience, so to me, that makes it a fact. You asked for it, so I define subpar as this. I bought a set of Cooper AT3 tires from a Cooper dealer. At the time of purchase, I had the dealer install new brakes and perform a full alignment as well. In addition, the shop performed a full inspection of the suspension and front end parts and said that everything was in good condition and needed no repairs. Over the course of the next 10 months, I put 20k miles (mostly highway) on the tires, rotating them every 7500 miles. At the 2nd rotation 15k mile mark, it was noticed that the front tires were cupping badly. Had suspension inspected again and again, the suspension passed. Had tires rotated to the rear, but by 20k miles, the cupping on all 4 tires was so bad that the tires were unusable. I was living in another state at this time but made the trip back to the original shop that I bought the tires from and had the original alignment performed at. They refused to honor any warranty on the tires, claiming that the warranty only applied if I had the tires rotated on schedule with them specifically, and they also blindly tried to blame my suspension has being bad. Despite themselves performing an alignment and inspection. That Cooper dealer refused to do anything for me, and the shot tires at 20k miles. I contacted Cooper tires themselves, and after a number of phone calls and waiting 2 months, they offered me a $100 rebate, but only if I purchased a new full set of Cooper tires. Um, no thanks as firstly it took so long I had already bought another set of tires to replace the unusable and unsafe 20k Cooper AT3s. Poor tire, poor customer service, shady dealer. I replaced those tires with a new set of General Grabber ATX, and they have performed beautifully now with 35k miles on them and zero cupping or uneven wear. This is just my story, and I don't know why the cooper's performed so poorly while all the other set of tires on the same vehicle performed normally. Now, do you have a story to prove your statement that Cooper tires are specifically better than the specific tire being highlighted in this video?

I hope it’s better than tha AT2 in the wet. It was a dangerous tire… almost as dangerous as the Goodyear Wrangler

Agree 100%. AT2s came on my 2021 f150. They were so horrible in the rain I took them off after less than 2k miles…trash tires

The edge of the tire wears down super fast. I think the tires are made for more snow conditions that the compound is softer. At2 are crap in the rain. With at least 80 lbs in the back of my f150 it’s harder to get the back to slide out and harder for the tries to lose traction.
