I was stationed aboard the USS Constellation at the time of this concert. We got to watch them for several days while they practiced. The show was great. Two stages and continuous music.

Jesus Lord have mercy I consider this the greatest musical performance in the history of the USA 🇺🇸

In 1984 my uncle and I were stationed on the same ship together in Mayport Fl., we tapped this concert on a vcr and watched it over and over. I don't know how many gallons of Jim Beam we drank watching it, but it probably would float the Constellation!

Hank Jr and The Bama Band on The Constellation? This is how we do it in Dixie! Bocephus gets it done.

11:40 - 12:40 is some of the best blues country you will ever hear. Pure solid gold. You can tell that man has always missed his father.

At this time Hank had hit a total different level. He had just put nine albums on the charts at the same time has never been done before or since and they wouldn't even nominate Hank for entertainer of the year!

Hank, Jr. has always been a superb talent, no doubt!!! So glad he was finally able to move away from the shadow of Sr., just far enough to find his own niche and sound, and capitalize on it, but never too far to forget what a great composer and singer his father was!!!! I went to one of his shows in 1981 at The Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. I was a Sr. in H.S., but remember how blown away i was with his musicianship, playing every instrument on the stage!!! Gave me the inspiration to play music myself, working in bands and doing solo gigs over the last 35 years!!! Rock on Bocephus and Thanks!!!!

my husband served on the connie and was at this concert and you can actually see him in the crowd, had a great time!

The piano part is epic

1984 was such a great year for Country and Rock. Bocephus was out front dong his thing and millions of us have never been the same. I just love the guy.

I remember watching it on Showtime..when he does a country boy can survive..and put in the words "..with my U.S. Colt .45" I got a chill I still remember!

I remember this like it was yesterday. Time sure does fly. I used to think that was something my mom said but it's true. But God has given us all a blessing we can build or we can look at this like it was yesterday. I pray this finds you well Hank and your life is going well. May God continue to bless you. The things this man has done good or bad he's still great

I remember going to see these guys in concert. I even saw Merle, and he sang a song or two. It was a great concert. All those musicians on stage were also there. Like that dude playing fiddle. I remember all that from back in the day. Wow! A day in the lives of all the people there in concert at that precise moment in time. Incredible. Life.

Seen Hank live a couple times, he can play anything!!! He let the band take a break and Hank stayed and played for an hour before the band returned, AWESOME show!!!

Hank Williams rocks , ohh my goodness, smoke on the guitar , plays awesome licks awesome chicken picking then seat on the piano and plays it like an extension of his body .... Hank Williams Jr. is legendary, so talented so natural .... amazing musician and personality , legendary for sure !

Musical Genius Hank JR can play 17 different instruments what great memories I've been to 19 concerts every time was awesome. My dad took me to my first concert in 83 and I think of my dad every time I hear Hank and Waylon.

My dad used to have this on VHS years ago. He used to look and sound so much like Hank.

Well the eighties were awesome Hank Williams Jr's one of the awesomest singers that came out of the bunch and as he said it's been some rocky roads for him

Milton Johnson Do you know a guy named Dave Howard? He was a good friend of my father's and he made Bocephus' guitar straps for him. Dave and Hank were great friends. Dave used to go over to one of Hank's big fancy houses and have dinner with him and his wife.

Milton Johnson my uncle Ken was also part of this show he met Hank after the show and ended up working for Hank for 15 years as a roadie and I finally got to meet Hank Jr back in 1995 in Camden NJ at the BB&T Pavilion it was my going away present because a week later I was shipping out to Paris Island to begin 13 weeks of Marine Corps boot camp

His father is the greatest country music singer in my 81years hank Jr is a worthy successor to his father and the add hank 3 and Sam love all of them

Seen him in Fayetteville NC one time 80's as last set played then band went off they came back encore once then twice then Bocephus just pulled up a chair kept singin with a bottle next to him on the floor. I bet an hour went by before they could come back play one more with him and get him to come on off stage.

Never get tired of this! He's still the man & praying for him & his family!

I remember this show! I taped it on our VCR. (LOL! VCR's! Anybody here remember those? Boy, those were the days, weren't they?). I was just a young, teenage girl back in the 80's, and I love country music. This show had so many greats - Mel McDaniel, Sylvia, Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Alabama, and of course Hank Williams Jr. I know there are others, I just can't remember who they are at the moment. It's been ages since I saw this. Anyway, it was a great show with a lot of talented artists. Thanks so much for uploading this. Our VCR broke down years ago, and I haven't been able to see this in a long time.

Taped it live I believe on Cinemax still have the vhs watched it 100 times . Saw him in concert that same year in Butte ,Mt Nitty Gritty Dirt Band opened up for him . Great concert ,great year !

Well, Ol' Hank loves the Delta Blues and the Dixieland sound. Both styles have horns in them and Bocephus has had horns in a plenty of his recordings over the years.

This didn't happen in June 1984. I stationed on the ship at the time and this happened a couple months before April 1984. Cause that's when I was discharged.

It was on 14 February , valentine's day 1984 . It aired on HBO in june '84 . I was aboard Connie and discharged in May'84 .
