Hania Rani: Award-winning Polish Composer, Pianist, and Singer | Music Interview 2022

Музыка

Born on the Baltic coast of Poland in 1990, Hania Rani was raised next to the sea, interpreting the landscape with her piano from an early age. When she realized she couldn’t express the full range of her musical thoughts on the piano, she started adding her voice, starting a journey of layering, and experimenting which has earned the young female composer accolades and early praise for her work so far.
Hania has been compared to Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm, adding a bit of FKA Twigs in the mix with her ethereal voice and stunning pop-oriented production.
She talks with Darek Mazzone, who was also born in the same town as Hania, about her process and identity as the gorgeous music she's creating reaches a broader audience globally.

About SAMA:
Seattle Sacred Music & Art (SAMA) curates, produces, and collaborates on an immersive series of music and art performances that share the healing power of global sacred music. New videos presented every Thursday at 8:00 PM PST. We are dedicated to share with you the best and most compelling artists in the world.
SAMA was launched in 2019 as a way to foster understanding and dialogue through global music during a time of extreme political and cultural polarization. Co-founders Darek Mazzone and John M. Goodfellow, both long-time Seattle residents, have created SAMA in order to help expand global sacred music’s impact on the human spirit.
“We want to open people’s hearts,” says Mazzone, a KEXP DJ and Polish immigrant who moved to the US as a child, “that’s what imbues our sense of humanity.” SAMA aims to help bring as many outstanding international artists to the Pacific Northwest to perform as possible as life resumes in public spaces. Through musical performances, global artists have the power to challenge out preconceived notions of what “the other” thinks and feels.

Not underrated at all, but people don't like good music, so most good people Who hear good music know her, the rest are listening to trap and all kind of crap.

Hania Rani is another great musician from Poland, working in a Polish tradition, together with many old famous polish composers. I think her music is minimalistic, like for example Philip Glass, but she expands this minimalism to maximalism sometimes. Still the roots of her music in growing in a minimalistic soil. Even if she here confesses that also for example Chopin is a part of her background. Thank you for this interesting interview!

Thanks for sharing this interview. I'm so happy that I discovered Hania's music. It is a refreshing change from rock, folk and indie music. I also would like to thank Hania for all the performances she did, online, during the pandemic. I find that her music gives me focus and pure joy!

Oh Hania😊...please make no apologies for any sort of ..."lack of production/decreased productivity/have to sort of make up for or catch up to, the rest of the world".....kind of talk..."productivity/production/products"...is ...not so cleverly disguised "code" for ..."not enoughness" which is the scourge of humanity...I hope and pray that Poland goes her own way, in whatever regard is necessary, and retains all of that which makes her unique in the world. And you Hania, you are figuring prominently on that journey...❤...keep creating your wondrously beautiful, deeply mysterious, love songs from The Wild Blue Yonder...invitations all, for the rest of us, to let go of fear and take the bold leap into All that is Possible...🦋

what Hania creates is amazing... maybe I'm biased because I'm from Poland, but it's beautiful. When I was a teenager I loved Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre and at the moment Hania is the best!

A really fascinating and insightful interview with excerpts from Hania's Studio S2 performance. Two Polish people connecting and talking about their culture and heritage and what it means to them.I don't know who the interviewer is but he asks really interesting questions and Hania answers them very well with much better English than she used to have!It doesn't tell you much about Hania as a person-what she likes,hobbies,etc-but it gives you an insight into how she thinks and feels.
