I was wondering how this only had 2,400 views. Figures it was only posted a couple weeks ago. This is by far the most comprehensive and informative drywall video on youtube from a humble guy who knows his trade. I put this video on par with one of Larry Haun's framing videos. Well done. Thanks very much for taking the time.

Best drywalling video on KZread. I've hung a ton of sheets in my life, but I learned a few things here. I'd say the sanding part wasn't given enough airtime, though. It's tedious and dirty and, since your furnace is already installed, you need to seal up all the runs and returns prior to sanding.

    1. DO NOT use your head to hold that drywall on the ceiling! After many years of 5/8 over my head my arms and shoulders were strong but my arms go numb when i sleep often due to worn cartilage. Imagine what that would do to your neck!! Stop it! 2. Box routers are great! Get you a Window/Door Router! Its just a bigger hand held wood router with a 1/4 inch drywall bit. Save time and also wear on your body! Drywall is already hard enough on the body. 3. It is best to cut the stand-ups first. Carrying a whole 8 footer to hang it and cut nearly half of it off is a waste of energy. Plus that extra over hang could prevent you from getting a tighter fit to the ceiling. 4. While using a footjack it is better to have your heel on the ground using the ball of your foot on the end. Its all about time and energy while keeping quality. Also we ALWAYS measure and cut drywall from the white side. You can cut from the back on the second cut (scoring) as it creates less dust such as in an existing home repair etc. This insures you dont rip the white side paper from the drywall making your work look like shit *pro-tip* Cutting drywall is all about the tip of the blade. Run that tip across a screw or nail and it is ruined.

I think this is by far one of the best out together instructional videos I have seen. Plenty of info and tips along with different options on doing things. I think the ones thumbs downing this just feel its not how they would do it. Which that is unfair because many people have their own way of doing things. Doesn't mean this person in the video is wrong. Just people think they have a better way. All in all, this was a great video. Never saw anyone use a roller to apply mud on ceiling. I love that idea. Easier to apply.

Years ago plaster was an art. But over the years drywall has become a common practice plus it's less expensive to finish the house interior walls. And both Plaster and Drywall are an art form. Drywall takes patients and time to do it correctly and do a smooth finish for final painting. I believe the key to a good drywall job is properly placing the sheets to reduce butt joints and joints in general. This is the area where the ends of the dry meet and are not tapered. This is sometimes a pain to finish but in this video, he makes it look effortless. This entire crew made this drywall job look effortless and very professional. Great Drywall Video!!!

Great vid. in case anyone who is watching wants to know, around 52min mark he's talking about it being difficult during the 3rd coat on the inside corner not to damage the opposing wall when running the knife down the corner. They have v shaped trowels for that.. not sure if they weren't around then or what, but it'll save you a lot of back-and-forth for sure.

I can see you are giving a real service based upon your expertise! I commend you on that! I am so sick of seeing so called pros in their monkey suits just here to sell products to list of suckers! I'm a pro painter and I just shake my head at some so called painters dressed up presenting their video! Thanks friend, quite informative! My living is modest but my quality is unquestionable! I don't do drywall except for repairs in homes but I can take a lot of good tips from this video you have. I can be complicated! Of course, I have a brother that I assist in this endeavor at times. Generally we use eight foot sections only. But I certainly see with big houses and walls, you'd want your boards to be big as possible! Great job! We do houses like maybe 1500 sq ft. So that may be why. Thanks for keeping it real! Others on you tube should take notice! It is not hard to spot a fraud or an actor!

1000.00 question, drywall has been why hasn't someone tapered all 4 sides, the butt ends just a little to embed the tape and a little mud? Why do we need to make that butt end hump and feather it out so far to hide it........taper the butt ends already! Why do you use nails? Screws are the way to go, take a little more time but its one and done. EXCELLENT VIDEO!!

Anyway, your vid answered my question in the first 15 mins... BUT the vid was so good I kept watching to get even more tips. MOST excellent!! Thank you!

If your stilts have fairly long straps ..for holding the feet down....try to secure them in a crisscross pattern ...that way there is no possibility of the front strap from slipping off towards the front ...and risking falling off the stilts...some tapers just wear regular running shoes.....which have a more pointy front than construction boots.

I find it a bit odd that ...as you seem to be right handed....you keep the tape roll holder on your right hip. I keep it there too..but I am left handed...so when the mud is applied to the wall,.I pull the tape out with my right hand..pass it to the left ,...but I keep pulling the tape of the roller....and I start my tape run from left to right...that way I don't have to have the tape folded in half in front of me all the time...because I am pulling the tape from my right hip, and walking towards the right side of the room...hope it makes sense...lol

Not too often do you see a clean cut well spoken person (boss), with glasses, neatly dressed, w. belt pocket protector and watch. working w. drywall, with no signs of material on him.
