I'm sure there are a lot of good electricians out there, but I've been called in a few times to clean up after some of the less-than-perfect electricians. Especially, they get lost and can't clean up a funky-acting circuit. Also, one of my landlords would get estimates from electricians upwards of a $1k, then call me and have the job done for a couple hundred. And I always checked code.

You know your stuff I’m not going to argue that , but as a licensed electrician I speak on behalf of my fellow tradesman we DONT think you “handymen” will win every time 😂. I couldn’t tell you how many calls I alone have gone on to repair or fix an issue that was caused by a handyman. I guess both sides have their bad apples.

They just don't get that that 4 hours of driving needs compensated for even if the fix is instant. You missed the branch circuits sharing the same tandem breakers. If branch circuits are on the same phase the amperage on the neutral side will double. You will end up with 40 amps on a #12 wire and 30 Amp on a #14 wire. It's a good idea to fix that when find it field because the last guy to work on the panel always gets blamed.

When a breaker trips it doesn't stay in the "on position" it moves to the middle. It may look like it's still on because it moves so little but it's not. It will still require a flip to the off position and then a flip back to on so I can see why many people think it's just stuck in the "on position" after trip.

Hell I met an inspector and a licensed electrical contractor. who both insisted that you did not need to carry both a neutral and a ground and whatever ungrounded conductors from a main panel to a sub panel. They had to do both a 120/240 service. And a high leg Delta service. All that runs between these panels is the neutral and the two or three conductors. And it's an overhead feed, so no conduit.

The bathroom of the add on had a light and GFCI that needed to be switched out. I was looking all over the sub panel for the breaker and when I asked the homeowner she didn't know where the main was. Within 30 seconds found the main, told the home owner I was going to cut the power, and 15 minutes later had everything changed out and the power back on. The other guy said they couldn't do the job because they couldn't find the breaker. Their loss was my profit. Would love to see the supper secret channel... Yes - it is a common misconception that splices cannot occur in a panel. They can. What cannot be done is so-called "double lugging" (placing more than one wire under a common terminal) for neutrals. Two wires under one terminal of a breaker is also not allowed unless the terminal is designed to receive more than one conductor (Square D QO and QOB breakers accept two wires if needed).
