I’m so sick of all these “watch influencers” who will just release pointless videos of the ad of the watch talking about how great it is without ever seeing it in person. Nah not even. Look at white “panda” Daytonas vs even the black steels. They are significantly harder to get and more valuable second hand. White dials are actually pretty rare on watches. Lot of silver or gray dials. Black is the most common color

I was able to check it out in person today in Zurich at the Omega Boutique and yes - very white almost to the point of being a bit too plain. A little eggshell off-white might have given it a bit more depth. But all a matter of taste. Also have to concur with the comments re. the bezel: a deeper black, ceramic finish would have made the contrast stronger. This way it looked like dark grey. I also think the classic black dial is still the best choice today.

I liked it more in person but unfortunately it had a plastic wrapper on it so I don't think the camera was able to catch everything about it

The applied indices are also a lovely touch to this stunning Speedy. Probably where that extra couple of grams comes in to play also. My local AD has one in now also, and I can't wait to get to try it on. Like you, I almost pulled the trigger on the black dial. I'm glad now I changed my mind. This new white dial is the best thing Omega could have done for the Moon watch 👍

Nice to see "normal" video of the watch, I have an appt today to meet and see it at the Omega boutique here. I'm in the same situation as you, I've wanted a speedy for a long while now and I'm pretty sure this is the one I'll be buying. It just seems a bit more upscale with the indices and the lacquer dial. I still eventually want to purchase the Ed White, but I think this will end up being my first Speedy.

This Speedy is on my "to get list" for sure. One thing you should be aware of with the applied hour markers is the lume is a small section above limiting the lume quality at night (similar to the 50th Snoopy). The black dial version has excellent lume and it lasts for hours. If lume is not high on your check list of must haves this may be your Speedy. Cheers!

I saw this exact watch in Honolulu, not for sale at the AD but they had the actual watch. It was in a center display case. I will tell you the lacquer dial does pop quite a bit and for $8100 will buy one for sure. I just paid $9K for my jubilee fluted palm across the mall. Don't get me wrong, I love the Datejust but might make this Speedmaster my daily. And this is a lot less than the Apollo 8 I've been seriously thinking about buying.

It looks the exact same, you just can't see the texture and depth of the subdials as much on the video, but that's natural. I'm assuming you'd see them in person like in the official photos. I just heard on the Scottish Watches podcast that they actually delayed this release so they could have more watches available at release but according to the Omega Boutique in Hawaii they didn't have any to sell

The gold Speedmaster has a ceramic bezel because people paying that much money for a watch would not accept aluminium. Sheeples accept it on the steel because of the moon stuff/hype train, so Omega just keep pumping it out!

The SA at the boutique described the color as “gun metal” so I guess it’s more like a dark grey but to me eyes they looked black against the lacquer white dial

One person that I have seen has mentioned the applied markers, but you are correct that it's not widely mentioned, which is bizarre in our world of small details making a big difference! Not a fan personally, but do feel that having applied markers will be the death of the black version. I feel Omega really should have used its annual snub on W&W to release a modern Speedmaster. It was Speedmaster before it was a 'Moonwatch', so surely a wider Ceramic less fussy bezel, with more interesting sub dials and a beefier bracelet/clasp would drag it into touch? This would have driven sales IMO and maybe instead of the previous hesalite/sapphire sandwich option, a manual wind/auto option could have been introduced?!

It's a,very nice watch and excellent video. However Pagani Design already released a white dial version with a black sapphire bezel. 😂 It's terrible how these companies copy each other .😜

On a white dial, the subdials are really hard to read at a glance due to lack of color contrast. A white dial may be trendy at the moment, but a black (or dark) dial is the rigeur for a chronograph

Very nice watch. For me, the hesalite 1861 is the Speedy to own. I totally love mine. The hesalite distortion is unique and can't be matched by sapphire.. also helps that mine was half the price of the new models....but yes, this white version is a handsome watch.. P.s. I do find the lacquer dial and shiny paint makes it look a little like a Swatch... sorry... this is the watch you want, but I feel there is more reason to have one of the classics Anyway, totally personal choice

It went up in price because it is a vastly improved movement and is now an Omega signature coaxial type. The old 1861 also had a terrible bracelet compared to the 3861. The new watch is better all round and worth the extra to upgrade

@@grandiora I do think this is still down to the individual . I much prefer the 1861 for many reasons: - I wear mine on nice leather straps and the new bracelet pinches hair. Both times I tried on the new Speedies, it was painful - the old movement is great. Mine keeping time +1 second per day. And it's more historically accurate if that matters - old dial is nicer. The colour is more grey, less busy, the outer track has more marks, so looks like a solid band which makes the whole dial less busy looking - price is much less - I prefer the lugs on 1861 Overall, all speedies are great, but I prefer older

The white dials makes the black dial appealing. And I hate Speedmasters in general because I am nauseated by the over exposure.

I saw one on Tuesday in L.A. They had some deposits in already. I placed a deposit. I was told a few weeks wait. It’s not a difficult to manufacture watch like the Ed White or the Snoopy so they can meet the demand more easily. The contrast of the indices and hands against the dial is even better than that of the white dial seamaster 300.

Maybe wait until Omega put their shit together and evolve the movement, and also change this shit crown. They need to move on, gimmicky "first watch on the moon" is overused now, although it could explain why prices keep reaching for the moon. It's almost 9k euros here in France, for a freaking hand winding chrono, 3Hz, 50 hrs with black wee wee at 12, you really have to like it !

It was absolutely pointless to do anything with the white dial; they no longer know how or what to come up with. With a white dial, the ugly, uncomfortable one is much better with a black one.

As someone who owns Rolex watches, your comment is pretty shallow. Real watch enthusiasts don't make value retention their top priority, you only care about that stuff if you buy a watch with the intention of reselling it later, that's not how watch lovers think. Also only buying from Rolex gets boring real quick, trust me on that, so why not buy form another quality brand like Omega as well?
