Citizen is so underrated when it comes to dive watches. I have the ecodrive 44mm one, somehow it fits my 6.25" wrist, no issue and its one of the best made watches I own. Not only does the bezel and chapter ring line up, the screw down crown always screws in with the logo aligned perfectly. No matter what you do. I don't know how they do it and I'll definitely never understand why they don't get the attention they deserve.

I've never thought Citizen was an underrated watch as I have always thought it was a fantastic brand. Quality is great, reliability is unsurpassed and they are priced reasonably. Their technology is the absolute best.

I have 8 Seiko Divers. I have 3 Citizen divers, now 4. Picked this one up last weekend because of your Review. It beats them all, hands down. Put it on an Uncle Seiko rubber strap, which is the best in the business, and you have the perfect sub 500 dollar Diver!

Citizen watches are extremely underrated.

This isn't just a Seiko killer it destroys Seiko at this price point! I like both brands but for an entry level auto diver that is ISO certified I don't know what can compete with this watch! And the green on this dial is awesome how it can look black and different shades of green!! Great upgrades too with the crystal and no one really talks about how they slightly redesigned the lug shape which I think changes the whole look of the watch from the older design for the better. It looks more modern and the case to bracelet transition is seamless unlike older models. I like this watch can you tell haha. Chris great video and glad to see you again give Citizen the props they deserve!! I too am a fan.

I got one of these watches in gold/silver color with blue/black dial. It's beautiful!

very good review. You said it all, and you are also a Seiko fan. I dont want to fight the Seiko fanbase, BUT I want a true recognition of this japanese brand. Citizen makes really good watches, for an affordable price, I never had a problem with them. But rollin with Seiko, we all have our stories with price and QC issues. Dont forget about Citizen, its a great brand, and thats it.

I've just picked this one up and I'm very happy with it. It's the first Citizen in my collection and it's much higher quality than I was expecting!

Such an underrated brand in the diving market. I use my Ecozilla on every dive,but this has much better proportions

Nice watch. I have the NY0040, black and blue. I enjoy wearing them more than my SKX.

I just got one with black dial and red ring very nice I must say its also my 1st automatic

I picked up the Batman. These are serious quality for the money. Heavy as hell on the wrist though!

I cannot wait for the new titanium reissues with 9000 series movement to come out!

Oh god I do really agree at Seiko part you mentioned since I have that problem right now, but yeah I used to look down at Citizen, but since I found my own second-hand Series 70 and then compare to my Promaster Chronograph, I have to admit that Citizen QC is real deal.

Have this in white …first automatic, zero issues, more micro adjustments on band would have been nice. Wear mudmaster and which sold me with the sapphire crystal

95% of divers sold are never used for diving, heck I don’t even swim. Oh and I have the full lume edition. It’s cool but nothing ground shattering. Usually seiko really brings home the bacon IMHO.

Agree.. Citizen always give better value now than Seiko now. I love their watches too 👍

I'm a massive Citizen fan. I have watches 20 years old and still going strong. Was looking at the Seiko Sumo pepsi but I'm drawn to the black and blue in this watch. Think I might end up black and blue if the missus knows I'm thinking about buying another watch.

Seiko should have a new slogan: "Seiko. It's only for our fans". If you apply logic, there are so many more compelling alternatives to a Seiko these days it's difficult to buy one unless you buy one with your heart rather than for what it offers. But in this hobby there's rarely logic to the madness and most of us buy watches with our heart rather than the specifications so... . Still, I have a soft spot for Seiko and it 's annoying to see other brands doing a better job.

Well said. I have purchased more watches because of the feeling I got from them rather than the impressive list of specs. Sometimes they had it all the looks and feel with the great specs. But you are so right when it comes to logic in this industry, it is a rarity haha.

Nice piece! I may buy my 1st Citizen dive watch.

There's also Citizen NY0100. It is similar without the Fugu branding and it uses mineral glass. But it is all titanium, including the strap and the case back. It comes in a plastic air tank casing.

I’m a sucker for green but love round indices. Really nice tho, love my citizen quartz diver.

Nice review! With the Seiko price surge in last couple years, my go-to brand became Citizen, like my 7 out of 10 latest watches were Citizen. Their Eco-drive line up varieties are very consumer friendly, especially once you got over being a mechanical snob. One thing from your vid though, even though my "second hand precision" experiences with 3 Promasters were good, I found the cheaper series (common Titatium, Eco-drive) second hand weren't hitting the markers but oh well.

I got the black PVD version with full lume dial. Love it! Fugu! 🎉

Great review Chris. IMO I love my NY0100-50X which is the green face titanium version. I first hesitated due to the crown being at the 8 o'clock position but I actually prefer it now. I feel it makes the crown more concealed and protected. I just wished they had used sapphire crystal.

November 2022, I bought the one with white dial and white indices. At the time of my purchase in my favorite retail atore, they had most of the available dial and bracelet colors, I tested all of them, and can confirmo that clown was perfectly aligned in all instances. Bye the way, they sold them all a few weeks later.

Nice piece ⌚😎👍🏻 I've had a few Promaster pieces including a FUGU. Though I really liked the crown at the 8; I couldn't get used to the location. Whenever winding or setting the day, date & time; I always had to flip the watch upsidedown ⌚🙃.

I have the older model and was interested in the upgrades until the size was revealed. The 42mm was a good size for me. I fear this is too big, especially with male end links.

They need to also make midsized like the SKX013. That would be a winner 38mm would be perfect for me!

Just bought the PM FUGU Pufferfish 44mm. My first ever Citizen. I'm very impressed. Not the biggest fan of the Miyota 8000 series, but it hacks and hand winds now and it seems to not have the stuttering seconds hand, which was my biggest issue. I got the black and yellow version. It came on a rubber strap and I put it on an Island Watch bracelet, which is amazing. Clasp could be better (no adjust on the fly feature), but it has solid links, solid and links, and screw pins. I'm really liking the watch a lot. I got mine off ebay, factory refurbished, for $202.

Chris, anyone tell you, you sound very much like Jimmy Kimmel? You do. Nice review, I own the previous generation Promaster Automatic. Such a great diver and holds up against my Tudor, Omega, Seiko etc. Great watch, especially for the coin.

I love my Gen 1 NY0400. IMO it trumps the SKX big time, or most ISO Seiko models for that matter. My only complaint is the noisy rotor but that’s minor. Great review. I’m absolutely going to get this watch.

I love mine Gen 1 too. Totally right about the rotor. I wouldn't even buy a Seiko SKX from Seiko when there are Islander watches. I have one of those. I want one of these watches with the PVD case.

Great looking watch, and green isn't that easy to find on diver's at those kinds of prices. Still, I'd rather get a Certina DS Action Diver in 38mm

I have the Pepsi Fugu, it's kind of a love/hate thing for me. Biggest complaint is the bezel turn, has a cheap/airy feel to it I find very typical of Citizen divers. Not a SKX cheap feel, but not too much better to me.

Always thought citizens compared well to seikos … I have several no qc problems whatsoever, unlike my seikos . Looks like they stepped up the lume nice for the price. I’m waiting on the challenge diver I will own that watch .

I like Citizen and would like this in a right hand version. What Seiko would you compare this to currently? In fact, what watch from other brands would you compare it to for $600? That is an interesting price market.

This watch needs: 1. Milled clasp; at this price point I would not consider stamped clasp. 2. Cross Drilled Lugs; if they are going to go so cheap on the clasp I would swap bracelet for a strap. Without drilled lugs that is a pain. 3. Female end links; looks like it already wears too big for most. Female end-links would mitigate. 4. Would be nice with a LJP G100 movement. I would pay a few hundred extra to have the better movement from Citizen Group.

Needs a ratcheting divers bracelet and ceramic bezel for the price. Not to say i am happy they are giving Seiko competition. I wish you could mod their watches more. Great brand though.

How does this compare vs the nb6021 coming out?

i would of buy it immediately if the crown on 4 clock position.. i don't think is comfortable or easy to use on 8 clock side

I just get in a exchange for another 10 days worn good as new i can say if you want watch for a summer and that also looks great with a suit this is it for low cost.

i have this watch older version NY0085-86E coke bazel. man i love this watch so much. its very very very comfortable to wear . love the crown . i got some scratch . which make me very sad .

Interestingly I AM!Looking for a Citizen for Pro Master, but IMO the Green Sucks... I'd prefer in in just plain Black Outer Ring / White Face / or virtually any Color with the exceptions for Blue / Red / Green. I am being forced to pick up a Non Day Date Invicta it has the NH35A Seiko Movement. So, IF you have a moment or have some model numbers you can forward... Thank You...however I'll already assume no response means nope only Green...

When rolex had a screw on that side, they said it was for left handed people (to wear on a right hand). This was not emphasized in this case? I wouod not wear it on the left hand.

Gorgeous watch but I don't get the point of an 8 o'clock crown. Anybody help me out? I'm right handed, and that just seems highly irregular.

Sorry but this watch is way too big at 44mm. The older NY0040 wears great at 42mm (even on small wrists). Should have just updated those with a better bracelet (solid links and end links) and a sapphire crystal. Now you need at least a 7” wrist to pull off the nearly 50mm lug to lug length. Like the variety of models and colour variations though.

You do realize that citizen has been making dive watches for a while like years . I tried some citizen divers there ok ...but there's not the same my opinion in feel in the hand and looks Seiko is just different. The Seiko dive watch community is just to big now and citizen is a lil late to the party

What makes Seiko different is the fit. No matter how big the case is, Seiko makes their watches fit most wrists. Citizen isn't too bad. Like you said they have been making dive watches for decades, and some of the fugu watches for the Asian market look good, but Seiko has way too much variety at this point. And they just fit better.
