Hands-off Head-Cam REVIEW - ORDRO EP6
A review of a budget head-mounted POV HD video camera. It’s a bit shaky.
This video has been uploaded in 1080p60 as most of the clips from the camera are in this resolution.

I can understand portrait video for face-to-face video phone calls, but NEVER for anything else. We see in landscape vision, our eyes are horizontally next to one another, we do not have one eye above the other. Portrait video is totally incompatible with TV screens and computer monitors. It makes zero sense. It is an indication of a general dumbing down. When everyone used cameras to take photographs and videos they knew instantly that if you wanted a portrait picture instead of landscape all you have to do is to physically turn the camera through 90 degrees. But with phones, people expect the software, their apps, to be able to do these things. I remember asking someone, why don't you shoot video on your phone in landscape, and she said, "I don't know how to do it on this phone"! As I said, it's dumbing downm de-evolution. People are getting stupider and stupider.

Not same make let alobe model though look on Ali Express or e-Bay for cheaper 480p-720p versions w/ likely poorer performance & lower capacity SD card capacity (4GB-8GB) if not committed though want to try out the idea . I bought one of these back in ~2010 or so on ebay that supported 480i analogue to digitially converted video in MPEG2 .AVI... Think it was 4GB/FAT32 and files were stored in 128MB chunks w/ a playlist archive file. Also the olayback on PC resulted in black bars on both X&Y like pulling out the HDD from a DVR and watching it on a computer back in the day. I'm sure a few sellers still exist still selling this era crap for cheap

I should send a link of this to a few police friends of mine whose departments have refused to buy them bodycams. My local city department uses a higher quality of those that seem to be designed for police use, but this doesn't seem like it'd be bad for officers whose departments won't fund "proper" cans.
This seems pretty much perfect for a technician in the field, for things like electrical installations, or even something smaller like electronics repairs and mechanics repairs. It's a very useful kind of documentation for backtracking and finding potential errors, and GoPros are far too expensive for something like that.

I've had one of these for a couple years now that I use when cycling as a kind of bicycle dash cam. Works great :)
I think it's always worth mentioning that there IS a purpose to saving images with a resolution higher than the native resolution of the sensor, particularly if you can choose a resolution that's EXACTLY double the native resolution. To be honest, I kinda forget WHY it's useful to do this, but I think it might have something to do with image compression and noise filtering. There is diminishing returns, of course, and tripling or quadrupling the native resolution won't get you much better pictures than double.
What about using this for B roll footage when working on a project?

In that case, you could just use a piece of software to do it on the EP6 version (obviously not the same one as used in this video!)
So glad that I'm not the only one who thought Borg when first seeing this camera.
So if the camera has a native 4 MP sensor it isn’t shooting real 4K video anyway. A frame of 4K video is roughly 8 MP. The 20fps spec could be caused by the internal upscaling it’s performing while recording. 4 MP comes out to about 2.7K in video terms, so presumably that mode is the one using the sensor’s native resolution.
look forward to the ocular implant review.
Could you to a quick demo of using it to repair something ? I have looked for a head mounted cam to record service/repair work and this looks perfect to catch everything, but how well does it work at recording at arms length (50cm should be ok for this) or when I am looking at something a bit closer. Nothing fancy just a quick recording.

Usually the up-top camera is too awkward for smaller hard-top cars and it has a weird perspective that doesn't feel natural. This feels a lot more natural.

Wouldn't play on mine this morning, but it's working now. Not sure if it changed anything, but it started fine after I set the resolution to 480 instead of auto.
Everything is reversed. You're driving on the wrong side of the road... And your car 😂😂😂 (How many trolls won't get this, I wonder?)
Im really looking forward to the EP7 video with image stabilisation
Need some sorta image stabilization. Otherwise, a nice wearable camera. Not that I need it. But it's nice. Type-C port for charging and LED (or maybe IR LED?) for lighting on the right side would be nice too.
I had a dream once in which my normal, everyday vision appeared like the playback from a camera like this without any image stabilization. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary during the dream, just walked around and completed normal tasks. One of the worst headaches I've ever awakened with. Inherent image stabilization - something not to be taken for granted.
I like that you can see in the rear view mirror while shooting through the windscreen...
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I want a camera I can clamp to my hat bill when doing repairs on some machines or if I’m in a building alone. Incase I am blamed for something.
What a super cool thing, love it. But I'm interested in the steady version works before buying one though.
Great video. I'm looking for a camera to film my puppet building and I think this would be perfect. Not much walking about involved so the stability issue won't be a big problem.
Great review as always! It’s a challenge to find a product where budget and great combine.
Would be handy for cycling, capture those car drivers who think they own the road and all... :P
You mentioned on a previous video about possibly doing a review of your current dash cam.... Yes please, if you would! 😊
For under 100€ this seems alright. It needs a built-in image stabilization solution though.
Took a while but this video is finally available for me to view. 😁
Cloud at 11:39 is an adorable little sleeping piglet.
This was an interesting video, I could possibly see myself buying the EP7 and using it to record paintball or Nerf games when there's an event going on near me here in the Riverina (NSW, Aus), since the gimbal stabilisation would help counteract the shakiness of a bobbing head when moving on the field. Also would be useful for when riding my cycle around town or such as well, in case something happens.
Brand ambassador! What a... diplomatic term.
I'm sure that you've already seen tons of comments saying this, but I cannot watch the video; in the app, I get a "this video is unavailable on this device" error. In a browser, it just does nothing. Edit: works now.
Would love one for my workshop.
Great review Mat. Its amazing, but not a surprise that an awful lot of these mini budget cams sporting 4K never live up to that spec, esp. on their frame rate. I know its a U tube rescaling but apart from the jerky 4K video its res. quality (to me) looked nothing better (in fact a lot worse) than 1080P footage. On the other hand the audio is very good, and yeah who shoots vertical video on their phones - everyone almost!
The price is absolutely the only reason why this would be desirable over a GoPro (or equivalent) with the appropriate head mount. Vastly better image and also multipurpose.
A beautiful rainy English day
I’m glad you pointed out that was your hand 🤣
Thanks for the video Mat. I look forward to the video with the image stabilisation. Best wishes.
Thanks for the review a video about an affordable body camera would also be amazing.
Good stuff! Lots of useful info here and good footage. I recently bought a headband for camera mount and found much the same results. You really need stabilisation - or practise keeping your head dead steady - which is MUCH harder than it sounds.......
The microphone on this little camera is actually quite amazing
4k 29fps still looks fine to me. Having recently done some filming for security purposes, resolution is more helpful than frame rate, in my opinion

Except it's barely 3K ! Which you'ld expect of a 4Mpixel sensor. 1080p = 2K = 2Mpixels. 2080p = 4K = 8Mpixels .
