he actually comes so close to nailing it, but he misses the point that it was herman mankiewicz who holed up in the cabin to write the screenplay, famously, at the urging of a distant and somewhat angry and desperate Orson Welles who directed, produced, starred in the film, and contributed much of the screenplay both in terms of original ideas and script editing, but it was mankiewicz who wrote most of it, particularly being the only writer present in the famous sabbatical / exile in the North Verde Ranch, where he usually was only accompanied with John Houseman as editor and babysitter, and Orson himself occasionally stopped by to check in and take drafts back to LA to work on it with another editor. but the real writer of the famous first draft produced in that ranch was Mankiewicz. so the joke of Gregg saying it was Orson Welles writing in the ranch is like, completely wrong, but also so close to the truth that you'd have to be an even bigger film geek than Gregg, but if you were, you (and no one else) would find it very very funny. it's like saying idk "this was David O. Selznik's office when he directed Gone With The Wind", or to pick an easier one, saying "this was the childhood home of two future Swedish film legends Ingrid and her brother Ingmar Bergman"

Where did Gregg get all the suits? He stepped it up this season. Maybe embezzling from the Tom Cruise Fund Jr. Foundation?

Both Tim and Gregg are so deep in their characters in this point you totally believe they are these people

Tim seems to be really dialed in on this episode. Here are a few examples (I know the list can be much longer) 1. Clearly Tim and Dr. San have figured out the perfect nutritional diet and vape combo 2. Tims creativity and inspiration have skyrocketed! (did you see his dinero impression?) Im very excited to hear the new Dekkar 3. LOVE LIFE! Ive never seen Tim so happy about a woman! He never mentioned his ex sounding like a cat. And as always Greg is the same whiney bore who is constantly trying to ruin everything positive in Tims amazing life.

Yeah, it's all over the Fear and Loathing Vegas Bonus stuff with Hunter S. Thompson. HST does it like 20 times during the directors commentary too. It seems like something he developed later in life though, so Johnny Depp doing it circa 1971 in the movie isn't actually accurate, but at the same time who gives a fuck about that.

Also he does it during the writers commentary on the Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas criterion collection, which I urge anyone to listen to if they like the movie and Hunter, but that's not very novel as I urge pretty much anyone to devour his whole oeuvre.

Of course he has. When he brings them to the penny theater to see a movie like The Tingler from 1959, starring Vincent Price. A real five bagger with little gravestone because it is a scary movie. The ladies will scream at the scary scenes, but also because it's a real treat to watch a movie with a film buff and expert like Gregg.
