Hands Like Houses - I Am (Official Music Video)

The disconnect
Is welling up,
And good intentions are not enough.
Your words are weary,
Their hearts are strained,
And idle vows find the deepest pains.
I’m sick, I’m tired
Of hollow hope,
Of promises, empty,
Your way with words,
They’re feeding back inside my head,
Oh, the things I could say that won’t change a thing.
I am not the same,
I won’t feed on fame.
You’re one of a thousand voices,
In my head that all just sound the same.
If mine never made a difference,
It won’t make the meaning change.
You’re one of a thousand voices,
In my head that all just sound the same.
If I will make a change,
It’s by my words and not my name.
I’m tired, I’m sick
Of misfit beggars
With able tongues and easy outs.
I hear you clearer than you hear yourself.
Bite down on your blindness, and spit it out.
I won’t sink into the sea of grey,
I won’t melt into the choir of angels.
I won’t sink into the sea of grey,
A violence of colour.
I won’t melt into the choir of angels,
I’ll step up and scream it -
I am dissonant.

Am I the only one who finds it really exciting that in 2015 a band's sound is actually getting heavier? So common to see heavy bands simmer down, and I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing but it's really refreshing to see a band sounding this aggressive, especially making use of Trenton's fantastic vocals

Selfish Eyes Their older stuff is fucking fantastic. Still Searching is on my greatest albums of all time list for sure. Renacer just didn't cut it though. I expected that signature melodic sound with a little hardcore thrown in that I've always loved them for but instead I got Renacer. It's decent but I would've never believed it was Senses Fail if I hadn't seen their name when sampling the album on iTunes.

Man I remember listening to these guys for the first time almost 5 years ago or so when the ONLY song they had out was lion skin. The members in this band are some of the most down to earth people and I remember talking to all of them after one of their shows when ground dweller came out and they just seemed very humbled to be where they're at at the time with the little fan base they had. Now they're receiving the recognition they deserve and it's been awesome to see these guys grow musically and all I can say is, as one of my favorite bands, please keep making music. Some of us appreciate it more than you know.

I honestly think they should stay away from screaming. Yes, it's their band and all that, and my view means nothing, but I dunno, I prefer their hard rock/clean vocals thing. I would prefer it if they didn't touch the screaming. That being said, this is still an excellent track and it's not going to stop me buying the album.

I initially liked HLH because they avoided screams and overly violent breakdowns. They were more artful, always trying to express their lyrics in different directions other than the classic post-hardcore style. But this is interesting. Same high energy style of their sophomore album with more backbone and a yell that could rumble an entire floor, but with some of the more interesting, melodic parts that dominated their debut. Definitely their new album's equivelent of "Introduced Species", but with more of a kick to it. I like it.

Agustin Torres yeah, it's definitely not a not equals, because it doesn't have the slash in the middle of the equals, it's just the top and bottom parts of the slash, no idea what it's for, maybe it's something for a new album they may be making? Like an album logo?

LxH Cody I always took it as meaning that they wouldn't be just another voice in the chorus of perfection (or one of the thousand voices) cuz the line before that is "I won't sink into a sea of gray" and then they scream "I am dissonant". So it's more about standing out and not just saying things to say them and sound nice.

  • @LxHCody

    @LxHCody

    8 жыл бұрын

+Window4503 I thought he was saying that he'd walk the line more or less, that "I won't sink into a sea of grey" meant that he won't let himself fade away and "I won't melt into a choir of angels" meant that he wouldn't glorify himself aka feed on fame and I thought that throughout the song he was mentioning musicians that only seek fame or "misfit beggars with able tongues and easy outs"and then I thought the "one of a thousand voices" part was mentioning how he was fed up with the musicians that make music for the wrong reasons.

steezermusic There's a bridge-like part after the second chorus and at the end of that bridge is a scream section. It's more ambient than this, but it's there. To be more specific, it's around the three minute mark.

I really enjoyed this. I feel like you guys shook it up a bit and did something a little different instrumentally, but you kept the same mix of rock solid vocals and amazing lyrics. I know you hate that people make a big thing over songs with screaming in them, so I'll just say this: I respect and appreciate the fact that you used the screaming sparingly and for emphasis. I feel that it can be overused, but I enjoy it when it's used well, which I think you achieved. Bottom line, I think you're an incredibly talented band, and I will definitely be here to support (and enjoy) all of your musical endeavors, past, present, and future. Good job guys :)
