Thanks for this very informative video. I bought my Towa gauge a couple of years ago and it was a game changer for me. I wind my own bobbins and I check every time I change a bobbin.

Adam, I wind my own bobbins. I use hq bobbins. When I check my tension with the TOWA I often see the gauge bounce. Am I winding too tight? I would appreciate a video on bobbin winding. BTW using bottom line thread. Thanks for all your help!

I need a video using the bobbin winder… please. Did you know ravel and unravel mean the exact same thing?! Lol

I have a problem getting the tension on the winder correct. The thread jumps out, and I have super spongy bobbins. To combat this, I have seen where someone has placed a picture hanger on the top of the winder to make a sharper angle making the thread stay in the tension holder. I have run the thread in the opposite direction in the tension section; and have had much better bobbins. No Towa, so not sure if they're at the correct tension till I dop and catch lol

Hi Barbara - try taking your thread (from the pig tail, which should be over to the left of your tension dial) under the tension disc then around the top (up & over, in an anti clockwise direction) then onto the bobbin - I've found this helps me with slippy threads. I hope this helps. Start slowly, then turn up the speed to about half way max

Do you use the towa on full bobbins only… can you use it on a half a bobbin?

I am having issues with the machine not pulling the bobbin thread up. Not sure if I broke it or don’t have the tension set right

I struggle with pre-wound bobbins. I would love to know how to have consistent success but many have perfect tension in my hand but freeze up once inserted. I have heard it is the spring that makes the thread freeze up when trying to pull up the bobbin thread. I end up having to pull off a ton of thread just to get them to work. When they do work...it is awesome but right now I always dread having to put in a new one once I get the previous one to work. I'm told it has to do with the spring positioning the bobbin out too far from the case when inserted and there is a KZread video where someone shows you how to BEND the spring but that just seems wrong and full of potential for more problems. I have seen Teflon discs you can insert and they are made for size M by the same people who make supreme slider. Do you know anything about those?

I love prewound bobbins. When you wind your own bobbins do you wind them on a slow medium or fast speed?

I would love a tutorial on how to use purchased designs. Right now I am familiar with embroidery machine designs and they do not always stitch out nicely if altered in size so I am wondering if all purchased designs in LONGARM formats are set up to be altered the way we can with the built-in designs that come with Prostitcher. I love being able to set a box and skew the design to fit. Because of stitch regulation and being able to set stitches per inch controlled by the machine and not the design itself...I am assuming resizing of longarm designs automatically recalculates the number of stitches. Is that a correct assumption?

Hi Mary - I have purchased quiting designs from Anne Bright designs - a digital download (as I'm based in the UK) The key is to make sure that you download the correct type for your machine (there is a guide on their website if unsure). I have Pro Stitcher (PS) with a HQ Avante. I have changed from the origninal size of the design to ensure it fits my throat space (& quilt I'm working on) you can still use your Pro Stiticher to change the number of stitches per inch. I hope this helps. I haven't yet tried quilting designs from Urban Elementz yet, but they have approx 4,000 e2e patterns to choose from, something for every occasion.
