Beautiful project and great video, Andy. Most of all, just a gentle reminder that your dad working hand-in-hand with you in your shop is a blessing that you and very few others ever get the opportunity to experience.....and you have it all on video to watch when the day comes that it's no longer possible. Take it from a much older man and fellow woodworker, value this time in your shop with your dad.

Beautiful work.
Always love it when you use Pecan. Don't see that here in Europe much, beautiful wood.
Such beautiful workmanship as always on your projects.
Another beautiful creation that will last for generations to be cherished by the owners. And memories for you of its build.
Thats another beautiful piece Andy. Congratulations to Robert on finishing his apprenticeship, you did him proud if he's now confident enough to set up his own business. If you continue with the large projects it looks like you'll soon be bringing someone else on in your shop.👍
For a somewhat utilitarian piece of office furniture, you really created something beautiful and distinctive. As always, incredible workmanship.
Can we get a video on how you set up and sharpen your planes! The way you have them tuned has me envious every time I watch. No matter what I do I can’t get mine close to that smooth
Very nicely done, Andy. As you yourself stated, these simple looking pieces involve an awful lot of preliminary steps - each themselves taking a lot of time and focussed effort. Congratulations on another piece very well done!
Firstly, what a stunning piece of furniture. I never miss a video, and have seen hundreds- but this one might be my all time favorite. Great work!
With long based build videos I usually just watch the intro and skip to the end to the glue up and assembly because one mostly (not really) knows what's required to for a build. I watched the whole video without skipping (in fact going back at times) and am just amazed at the amount of effort and patience that you put into this build. Liked and subscribed! Thank you for sharing your work
Beautiful work Andy, great execution of a difficult project. Great to see you have a chance to bring your Dad on board, that adds the special memories as a reward for both your hard work! Well done, nothing quite like our “Texas Pecan”!
Beautiful! I’ve always wanted to work with pecan, I had a bed set passed down from family made of pecan in mid century style and it was always beautiful
Great build. I happen to be in the middle of a veneered built in with water a fall element for my laundry room at the moment so I found the details of your processes especially helpful. Thank you!
I'm new to your channel and really like your build and the video. I wish I had your patience to go through the many, many steps involved.Since you're an Oliver fan I'll tell you I had an old Oliver 36" planer that I used for tabletops many years ago. That machine was a beast. It would take off 1/8" across the entire 36" in one pass, though that was on Southern Yellow Pine. I'm definitely a follower of yours now, thanks for the video.
the bypass doors turned out beautiful! really dig those. want to make a cab with them at some point. cool project andy!
Really beautiful piece. All the veneer matching payed off!
It's absolutely beautiful. I strive to be at your level someday. And I love working with pecan! It has such varied and beautiful grain.
Very good looking and modern piece off furniture. Great job Andy 😊
I love it! Maybe another video where you go through your finishing process in detail sometime? I have a bunch of TX pecan sitting around my shop and have no idea how to finish it. (I should probably figure out what to build with it first…)
Awesome looking simple and clean design!
Stunning work, Andy! Really beautiful piece! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Beautiful piece of art.
Looks great Andy. Well done done.
Beautiful work Andy!

Thanks Jim! I've got another old Oliver about to go into service in the shop. It's an 18" and I can't wait to get it up and running. It was built in 1926.
Looking AWESOME!!
thank you . looks great
Beautiful work
Very nice, love the pecan.
Nice work. Love it !
Very well done.
Absolutely perfect! You make it look so easy but know this took countless hours of work. Do you have a video of your conversion varnish process?
Great work, keep it up!
My dude, that is stunning 👌
Only Andy to make me like a veneer based peace.😅 Although I'm not the biggest fan of veneer furniture, I really enjoyed watching you go through it, Andy. Really beautiful end result! I was surprised not to see Robert or any mention of him during the video. Hope everything is ok. Congratulations, once again!

Thanks for letting me know Ricky!
Very nice!
Turned out great! I'm sure you have thought of it, but would some sort of power feed work for the veneering?
Fantastic
What did you use for finishing? Great work!!!!
Beautiful work! That glue up looked really really crazy!! What glue did you use if I may ask ? For difficult glue ups I use epoxy glue with 90 min open time. That helps with the stress ! 😅
Thats class
Wow!
Where's Robert? Haven't seen him in the past few vids. Hope he's still with you.

Robert left in October to start his own business.
Hey man, I'm a woodworker in Australia that's works on his own as well. I was professionally trained but left the craft and pursued other work. In the last 5 or so years ive returned to the craft as a side hustle because it's what I've enjoyed the most out of everything ive done. I'm scared to make the jump into doing it full time for myself even though my friends and family think I should. It's the pricing of pieces I worry about most because like you said, something like that beautiful credenza takes you 4 to 5 weeks. I'm just scared to quote somebody material's plus the wages for the actual hours it takes to make a thing. I think people might run for the hills. So if you don't mind me asking can you give a breakdown of materials and profit on that piece please? I know we're in different countries on opposite sides of the planet so the markets arent the same but just to have an idea would help.
Been cool in the Hill country. Have you got skim ice on the pool? Beautiful job Andy

The thing wear the cabbinet is on is this wood or metal
G' Day mate Greetings from Croatia Great job as always I have a question, your opinion and anyone who's reading this Im about to build a big huge church door And im thinking make it hollow for the weight sake, something like a house frame out of wood, then put some 2 +inch thick wooden panels around it. Stractualy is sound but im woried about condesation and creating some water inside etc., and get a problems later What are your toughts Thanks
Was warping an issue on the veneers after they were cut?
@AndyRawls
6 ай бұрын
No the boards had very little tension in them and there was no warping. The material was cut and dried by Berdoll Sawmill and he did an amazing job prepping the material.
I noticed you mentioned in one of your comments about a one man shop. What happened to the other gentleman who was working with you a short time back, if you dont mind me asking.
what has happened to Robert ?
Sir....I have skill for wood working, wood carving and specially metalwelding.... Do you have job opportunities?
What happened to your apprentice?

Non profit foundation buying a full custom, probably $6k credenza 😂😂. No wonder they don't want to be filmed
