This video was so helpful. I love handwritten labels but have trouble with the lines going crooked. I never even thought of using lined paper underneath. Such a simple trick really changes everything.

Hello! Next time, try ironing on your freezer paper, trimming it to standard paper size, and then running it through your printer in the same way that you do with the printable fabric sheets that you buy in the store. When I print on my fabric in this way, I heat set it with my iron on a cotton setting. I've never had a problem doing it this way in my printer and the labels are durable and last. I'm not sure if you mentioned trying this in your video. I love your videos and think you so awesome and informative. Thank you for sharing!

Susan, thanks for your very helpful video on making a hand written label. I’ve done computer printed ones but the hand written feels so much more personal and I can even add a little leaf, flower or butterfly sketch.

I use a light board and put fabric on top of printed label info and then use my micron pen and trace over. I use a font that looks like cursive. I don’t have an ink jet printer.

Thanks for the idea. I will try it when I am done with my newest nieces quilt.

It is a Micron Pigma Pen.

So if i am making a quilt for my son (my first commissioned project-he's paying me lol) do i make a To: and From: for him to write his name and person's name in addition to who made the quilt (me) and where/year it was made and name of quilt?

You can definately do that if you want. You can add as much information to you labels as you want to.

What is the benefit of the freezer paper?

It stabilizes the fabric making it easier to write on.
