Thank you for all your fantastic input and information. I too, found that Micron pens faded, especially when laundered frequently on children’s quilts and I now no longer use them, preferring instead to embroider a label.

I like to use handkerchief to embroider on either hand or machine

I totally agree about the importance of quilt labels, after finishing my first big quilt gifted to my husband. It was totally made with his likes in mind and the background was an homage to his Indian heritage. Every idea with him in mind went into this quilt and I learned about labels and quilt journals to preserve these efforts to be helpful to our family long after we are gone. Thank you for this very special tutorial. I hope it speaks to other quilters hearts as well.

Great video! I may be ordering a quilt label from you soon.

You’re right- I used a recommended Micron pen, washed my quilt before giving it away & the label had faded enough that I went over it, again & heat set the marker. I expect it will fade.

I've never added a label to a quilt, but perhaps I should. I never really thought it was that important, but you have pointed out that it is. I'll have to get out my embroidery thread and do a quick chain stitch of my name and the date I finished it.

That is great. Future generations will thank you. Maybe your quilt will end up in a museum one day. I'm sure that the people that made the quilts that are collected and appreciated never thought their quilt would end up in a collection or museum. :)
