I’m not sure which I’m most impressed with, the restored knife or your research. An absolutely brilliant and informative video.

Great restore. One of the knives you showed is a padding knife used in the printing and bindery industry. Its used to cut pads apart after they have been glued together in large quantities.

I would have guessed it was a Bob Ross type knife. That scotchbright tip is ingenious. I have a pneumatic pencil grinder that doesn't get much air time, but I do use Drexel size stuff occasionally. Anyway, very cool. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Very nice. My first guess would have been some kind of leather knife. Looked very similar to knives my grandfather used on decorative leather sheath embellishments for machetes, gun belts and later purses. The blade on this was thinner. Great restoration. Grandad would have approved.

This is amazing my former studio mate left this exact same tool behind when she moved out and I have been trying to figure out what it is for years. Thanks for helping me solve the mystery. The fact that mine is just as beat and works just as well is a testament to the quality of these tools. They don’t make em they used to!! PS. I have used it as a “Bob Ross” style palette knife it works great for getting a heavy impasto 🤙
