Hand making a platinum ring for a $225,000 diamond
Years of practice & hours of work went into making this handmade three stone ring. The center is a 10.10 carat natural radiant diamond worth a quarter million dollars and is accompanied by two traps on the sides. Three stone rings are my favorite type type of jewelry to make because they’re fun to make and you can really tell what level of a jeweler someone is because mistakes will really show. You have to use a lot of the fundamentals of jewelry making. Sawing, filing, soldering, wire bending, etc. You’re stone setting skills also have to be on point, especially for bigger stones. Had a pretty tight deadline to get this ring done and am stoked I was able to film the process. My friend & amazing stone setter Max set the stones in this ring and he is featured in this video doing the setting work. I recycled the shank from an old platinum ring as well and used it to make this ring.

Thank you for setting the diamond high enough to maximize the light striking its surfaces. I really dislike deep settings for any diamond. This one is stunning in this setting!

Ici un bijoutier. Le choix de fabriquer à la main, à la cire perdue ou même à la CAO sont influencés également par le budget du client. Vous ne pouvez pas avoir un ouvrage sur lequel l'artisan a passé 3 jours dessus exclusivement et payer le prix que les clients veulent avoir aujourd'hui. Donc ce n'est pas nécessairement le manque de savoir faire mais plutôt une optimisation des couts à travers des techniques qui demandent moins de temps de mains d'œuvre pour un résultat identique pour le client.

Actually rings/jewellery made from cast platinum is the cheaper mass produced stuff, most likely made in the Middle East with lesser grade diamonds.
