A very detailed explanation, thank you very much. One of the best videos I’ve seen about hand controls. I’m currently in the process of making the transition after driving with foot pedals for 28 years.

Hi! Is it possible to install a hand control for braking ONLY (aka, the driver can still accelerate using his/her feet)? I can accelerate easily/comfortably, but the brake (which is typically angled/positioned differently) is sometimes difficult to use, as I have "foot drop." As a result, when I go to brake, sometimes only my big toe catches the brake pedal. I would love to have a hand control installed for braking, but still accelerate using the pedal. Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for the video, really useful info. I have fused ankles and am having a driving assessment next month to see if I can use pedals or not. Now I have seen this video the hand controls looks much easier to operate so might opt for that. Do you have any experience of people with fused ankles driving with pedals or hand controls?

themuel23 Thanks for your comments. See how you get on at the assessment. The correct choice of controls might be hand controls of some kind. Lots of choices available. A hinged accelerator pedal is often a good choice so your right foot can be clear of the pedals without being in an uncomfortable driving position. Please call for a chat. Des.

yes you can move your hand safety and secure adding the signal on it its just complicating the thing and is more expensive lets face it , steering ball as well no need for it.its just in your way there all the time you dont need any impediments on your car...been driving with JG p/p lips for 15 years no accidents thank you !!!

Can you tell me if this brake is easier to use than the traditional push pull system which I am having difficulty with. For acceleration I have heard that the ring systems are too sensitive for some people. With my push pull, my hand will not reach from the wheel to the handle as it is too far away and my hand is very small. I need something different.

Hi Kathy, some people find it easier as it moves downwards to brake so your body weight is not thrown forwards onto it as with the push away brake on the push pull system. You can have it with a ring accelerator or with an electronic slider control which is very nice to use. Kathy Sayer do you have a spinner knob on the steering wheel? If so, Your other hand doesnt need to be on the wheel so you can just hold the push/pull control. Thats what I do as my hand doesnt reach the wheel from the control

A hand control is basically a mechanical lever that pushes on the brake and accelerator pedals to control the vehicle. This means they are fairly cheap (free on the motability scheme in fact), but some customers with weaker hand strength may struggle to use them. Electronic ring accelerators require very little strength to operate but are a fair bit more expensive than hand controls.

The ghost ring accelerator is made by a company called Guidosimplex. We can also fit this product

Never used one but don't think is very easy to drive even you l can see that you driving sequencely with it , yes more then practice l think

Dont look like you have any disabilities or pharmacuticals to qalify you to drive as disabled. able body people make it look so easy and safety glasses must be worn lol.
