Hand build a Bonsai Pot (Pt 2). Burning and Glazing Bonsai Pots,

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Part 2 of all of my last Hand made Bonsai pots.
In this video I bisque fire pots and show how I glace them. The last fire is in 1250 degrees Celsius and in the end you will see the result, one by one. A so called Kiln opening.
To grow bonsai in a cold climate like in Finland is not so easy.
I make my pots a little bit thicker and give them a thin cover of glazing on the inside too, to prevent them from breaking.
All of my outdoor Bonsais are dug into the ground to survive the snow and ice for about 4,5 months. Every spring is exciting to see if they survive.

Thank you so much! I still have’nt found the right trees for all of the pots. It’s too late to plant anything here in Finland now. We have frost in the mornings and soon snow. / Mika

Hello there! I’m sorry, but I don’t know the specs for the cooling time etc. I just chose the right program on this automatic kiln. First fire is in 650*C and the other in 1250*C. I’m always confused when people talk about cone 3 or 5 etc. because I use this auto-mode. On the second kiln I use, set the power for the first stage to 20% , second stage to 50% and final heat only for 15 or 20 minutes. I have to admit, I’m new with the kiln and all the fine adjustments, Trial and error, but never too hot! Cheers from a Finland in spring (finally)!
