I always thought yandere is the worst type of a character, absolutely selfish and psychotic but Hanako proved me that it's not always like that :') SLIGHT SPOILERS I didn't agree with his choices but I can totally understand them. He lost his life, dreams, innocence, pretty much everything that is valuable in this world. Most likely heavily bullied and even tortured in many ways and for many years, probably never experienced a true love in his short life. And after such a miserable life, forced to commit a murder, after horrible death and after 46 years of vegetating as a spirit in loneliness as his punishment - which he didn't even really deserve in first place! - he finally met a real soulmate and madly fell in love, even if logic says there's no future for both of them to be together. How can someone be surprised he is so desperate to protect her no matter what? His reasons are absolutely understandable. The one and only yandere I will always defend. My poor baby :'(

@@realswobby True, most yandere are selfish and abusive, the only ones I like are those who don't act out of selfishness, it's just... Over-protectiveness times a thousand! The most popular yandere characters are also so over the top, it feels like the writer is going for shock-value over actually having their mentality make sense. They only really care about axing people down and psychotic laughter. Hanako and Tsukasa are both well written yandere characters (Tsukasa obviously more extreme than Hanako) because their behavior is consistent and make sense to the character, without them coming off as two-faced and fake. (SPOILERS) When Hanako keeps Nene in the fake world, he's literally keeping her captive. Kidnapping a loved one is not new to a yandere character, but Hanako doesn't do it out of jealousy and selfishness, he's just trying desperately to change her future, as the alternative is death. Tsukasa is amazing too, as I feel pulling his character off must be a lot more challenging. Childish like his brother, but lacking in empathy. He's just so perfect, in a way. He's scary, unpredictable and vile, and they are able to showcase this without needing to make Tsukasa laugh hysterically while showered in blood. His psychopathy is so eerily realistic, and that makes it scarier than if the writer exaggerated as most do when it comes to yandere characters.

In old Japan around 1880's - 1950's ,they wore the EXACT same Uniform and Hat as Hanako is wearing. Gold bottoned uniform, paired with a hat. You can search and see for yourselves. And that's exactly how old Hanako is judging from his outfit. Just 60-70 years old depending on what year Yashiro and Kou is from, on which I know is around 2014 or 2016 They look like they're from military but really they were just HighSchool students. Lmao

The way he begins to like nene makes a lot more sense in the manga cause at first he’s like kinda chill and then afterwards he starts a hugging her a lot, in the anime it’s really unorganized and feels like they just put together a bunch of random events

Oh, no no no! That's not the real yandere mode, THE *REAL* yandere mode will come out in episodes 11 or 12 or maybe in season 2..
