It looks easy but only people who have tried this piece knows how difficult this is. The more you practice, the harder it gets

I've played this piece. One of the harder parts of it is the slow largo movement. It's just a crazy piece, but super fun if you can do it.

Ha! He makes it look easy, but I suppose only someone who plays clarinet knows. This thing is brutal!

Erik Caballero I'm playing this for my freshman year college recital and I can't wait to see how it turns out
Playing at this level at the age of 18. . . just listening to how he plays that 1st movement almost brings tears to my eyes. It makes me think, "Oh my!". It's amazingly beautiful! I imagine that every college freshman who seriously plays clarinet would desire to play at this level. This guy really has set the bar high for aspiring young clarinet players. Kudos to all his hard work!

He’s 18 in this recording? You’ve got to be kidding me….
0:23 - Introduction 4:37 - Theme, Allegretto 5:26 - Var. 1, Più mosso 6:30 - Var. 2 7:31 - Var. 3 8:37 - Var. 4, Largo minore 11:10 - Var. 5, Allegro
Maturity in the sound has increased ten-fold! While sometimes I wonder if he gets a bit ahead of himself, I really enjoy seeing the character coming out in his performance. It's as if he picks someone here or there in the audience, and says with his eyes, "Listen, I will tell you a story!" That is my favorite aspect, and among what is most worth emulating for my personal endeavors.

I think he lets his clarinet direct him
I feel that if I heard music like this during high school music classes, I would have appreciated my clarinet more. I always wondered if it was simply an underestimated instrument.
I can't believe all the asshole comments about this guys playing. He is certainly one of the best clarinet players I have heard - great legato playing (very smooth) - great technique, great rhythm, great expression, great dynamic range - much better than most USA orchestral players and certainly one of the top soloists in the world today. I back this opinion up with having taught and played professionally for over 40 years.

I think his sound is great, but he is sloppy. I've heard better versions of this piece. It sounds as if he's in a hurry. I can understand that, as he has to play real fast (I cannot play this myself) but I'm not a pro and this guy is. I heard profs play this piece as if it's easy and that sounds a lot better and they don't skip notes. Don't misunderstand, I enjoyed listening to this video, but I've heard a lot better.

While he is slightly sloppy, you have to take into account the amount of stress that this must be causing him. An insanely fast piece of music to be preformed in front of a bunch of classical aficionados is bound to be cause for some mistakes. I personally have auditions coming up for a symphony I have literally dreamed of being in and while my teacher says that I'll get in for sure, friends saying I'll get in, people in the symphony commenting that I'll get in, I'm here feeling panicked. Playing in front of people with high expectations and high stakes going on is bound to cause some mistakes. give him a break , since he crossed it so many times flawlessly in the piece. (yes, pun intended.)

he is very sloppy and looks like he is doing a dance while playing we are aloud to say what we want to say were helping him.
Oh my, as a clarinetist myself, I think your playing is really inspiring! It's crazy how much mastery you have over those insane jumps into the altissimo register during those fast passages! Your tone control is phenomenal as well as your technique. I still think those your altissimo register is something special, I've never heard anything like it! Never Stop Your Drive! Don't Let Others Say Anything About You!
It's incredible how Rossini wrote his own K 622... It all shows the admiration of Giaccomo for Amadeus and as well Rossini's wonderful composer talent. Even thanks to both : )

If only the orchestra were emoting at the same level as he. Bravo Mr. Kim!
Well... RIP Dreams I like how he moves with his music too. Its pretty cool
Knowing how much talent and work he put into this makes it hard to just relax and take it in, but he does it so well. Bravo!
I love how he didn't sacrifice his tone and air for the correct notes. Not even in the hardest, fastest, most technically demanding parts of the piece.
Unbelievable! This guys is awesome and I just sat in awe watching this performance! 12:38 OMGEE!!!
What amazing technique tone. Almost superhuman
beatiful apresentation of clarinet, new generation of the art playing instrument. congratulations! Han Kim. I am a clarinetist of the orquestra ccb of brasil. I am old sixty years. congratulations!!!
A warm and loud round of applause well deserved!
I was so happy to find another posting from you Han. Your playing has come on in leaps, I love your expressiveness, your love for the clarinet shines through very clearly. Thank you for sharing. Bravo.
He is so fluid in his transitioning like the ebb and flow of the tidal waves through each movement. Extremely expressive and artistic breathing new life through his interpretation.
What a legend.
I think we in europa have to be avare of the players from Asia. They dominate the clarinet and oboe world at the moment. Super playing in Rossini by Han Kim. Fantastic!!!
I applaud you for this! You really inspire me as a younger clarinetist. This requires so much skill, stamina, and focus and not many people understand how hard that is. Great job! Keep it up!
Inspirational, motivating and a sheer pleasure to hear such amazing technique and interpretation. It's people like Han Kim that give us the drive to keep on trying and not give up. At the ripe old age of 57 it's just the kind of encouragement I need to keep going for another 20 years!
Very nice interpretation of this work which perfectly highlights the instrument, but, using all its possibilities, is particularly demanding for the instrumentalist. The musician here is perfect!
This is an incredibly beautiful piece, & I love to hear Han Kim perform it! One day in the future, I would love to play this. Maybe after 5 years of some serious practice. Just brilliant!
The ones who criticize him are probably deaf...he has a great legato, a good sound, and good interpretation and understanding of the phrasing. He has great chances of improvement in the next few years, in particular on precision in tough phrasing, intonation, and staccato clarity, but he is already great!

Very well! Multi talent! HAN KIM you are wonderful!!!
This gentleman appears to really like the piece and enjoy playing the clarinet very much. This is quite lovely and adds to the performance.
I love how he communicates with the audience through his movement and facial expressions-I actually think those things also supplement his amazing dynamics. A fantastic player!
He is amazing !!
I started playing the clarinet when I was 8 but I haven't play it for a long long time. This is one of my favourites with Webber concertos. 11:10 is incredible. He sounds sometimes like if there were 2 clarinets
4:38 Theme "Oh quante lagrime", act 1 from Rossini's "La Donna del Lago"
Yay you're back! :D
Wonderful. It has been a pleasure watching you mature and develop as a musical artist over the years. I wish yo continued success!

Beautiful Han! I’m in the position where I’m performing this in concert with my local city youth orchestra, and I’m kinda bricking it! I can only imagine what some of these critical comments would say about my performance of it 😂 but I take so much from your performance, both musically and technically. Bravo.

Yeah Your Awesome Han Kim And The Best Professional Clarinet. player
A clarinet,an amazing instrument in the hands and mouth of one that has become one with it,the versatility and beautiful notes it can reach ,softness and loud,a instrument that seems to be not in and exalted position as it should, maybe because of the difficulty of learning and mastering it that brings its becoming obscure to the public eye,but what ever the case,no other instrument can bring forth such a beautiful distinct sound as the clarinet, and the one that performs here, brings home the point magnificently,,,what a great performance
Great!!! Fantastic!!!
Amazing!
Nice Expressive Sound... Bravo!

I’m in the situation where I’m playing this piece with an Orchestra right now. First off, he’s younger than me. Second off, the piece is very difficult, and nigh on impossible at the speed he’s taking it. Props to him I reckon - certainly something for me to aspire towards for my upcoming performance of it!
