ಇಂತಹ ಹಾಡುಗಳು ಇಂದಿನ ವರ್ತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡ ಬರಬೇಕು.

I used to think telugu people are the least bothered about their heritage. Itseems Kannada people are also in the same fashion. Wonder how many see this film today.

This is a Shyama Sastry’s (one of the trinities of Carnatic music) Kriti rendered in the Raga Kalyani on Goddess Kamakshi. This version misses the Charanam, but nevertheless is an excellent listen!

Madam, "shyama Krishna sodari.." the lines which brings the vaggeyakara's ankita nama are missing. Since it's movie they might have shortened.

Yes once in a while such movies come in Kannada....proud about that, not many in other languages I must say. Incidentally I was reading reviews about movies like Ondanondu kaaladalli, Nagamandala, Godhibanna saadhaarana maikattu, among other movies. Proud 🙏

Dheeraj Shetty : because such movies will only be viewed by ‘Class’ and not ‘Mass’ ( fans of Darshan, Duniya Vijay, Prajwal Devaraj etc..) and it is the ‘Mass’ that fetches money to producers !!

You need a strong hold on the subject and intellectual capacity to make and watch such movies. Such capable people have long left the industry , making money working for software industry abroad and left are those people, who makes movies which are no way near to the films of the olden days.

These kind of movies have stopped in all languages... In our generation we have become too busy with our forward looking approach and do not feelthe need to go back and appreciate any achievements/efforts of prior generations

Even people with money don't have the intent to produce good Kannada movies. Our latest offering french biryani is a proof. Kannada movies were leading examples of good artistic movies and now it is left far behind. Hemant Rao's godhi banna is a faint light in this dark tunnel.

This Kriti of Sri Shyama Shastrigalu was chosen as part of the competition between Bhairavi Venkatasubbiah and his guru Tirumalayya in the movie. The interesting thing is, historically Bhairavi Venkatasubbiah lived many years before the Trinity of Carnatic music (SS, MD, TR) and during his time this song was never composed and it is mentioned in the novel of the same name Hamsageethe which is the source material for this movie. Nevertheless, historically inaccurate yet, very very beautifully adopted for this pivotal moment in the movie.

Sir, Thank you for this valuable detail. I was in an impression that Deewaan Bhairavi Venkata Subbaiah avaru is younger to the Trinity of legends mentioned in you comment. @@PradyumnaBhat you are welcome! Another interesting thing is Bhairavi Venkatasubbiah learnt music from an ascetic who taught him music. Just Indian classical music. In the novel it's mentioned that at that time music wasn't classified into north or south. Novelist Ta Ra Su expresses that with a lot of nuanced examples.

I was tracing movies that are based on Ta.Ra.Su's Novels, and did watch this beautiful movie. The movies list based on his Novels are l Gems/Pearls in Kannada Cinema. Anna, in the movie; [Point-1] it is being shown Deewan Bhairavi Venkatasubbaih avaru was living in the era of Tippu Sultan or Hyder Ali time. And [Point-2] the movie climax has shown very tragic end, which concludes like Deewan Bhairavi Venkatasubbaih avaru punishes himself that makes him to mute and never sing again. And for my perception, I understood that Deewan avaru can still sing inside (public or outer world can't hear him) which can be heard by Soul or Goddess Bhairavi. Anna, were these scenes have any relevance to real story of Deewan avaru.

@@Pa-1 it certainly is. But sadly that is how it is. Forget singing they don't even wish to listen to non vaishnav praises or even look at non vaishnav deities. It is called ananyatwam. Bowing to or praising no one other than the deity prescribed by our previous teachers. If someone does that it is considered vyabhichaaram/adultery.

The older generation is like a tree that will never bend so no one can convince them... It's in our hands how we bring up the next generation... It takes a lot of time & our patience will be tested a lot...!
