Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Airbase tour

Meet some of the Critical Care Team, learn about parts of their roles at the charity and discover how we save lives everyday.
Chief Pilot Nigel Thomson shows you around our aircraft, Helimed56, and runs through some of his morning checks with you.
HEMS Paramedic Nicola Hawkes will show you some of our kit and how we transport it all by air to our patients.
Dr Vic Rehnberg will explain why we use cars to get to our patients as well as an aircraft. He also demonstrates that we carry the same equipment as our aircraft.
And finally, Dr Frances Dolman and HEMS Paramedic Julian Hannah run through a training exercise in our simulation suite.
All of these roles, equipment and assets would not be possible if it were not for the support we receive from our local community. We are incredible grateful to have you as part of our team. Thank you.

Air Ambulance saved my life after a riding accident on the downs on the Isle of Wight. They flew me to Southampton where I was in a coma in neuro intensive care for six weeks following brain surgery. I would not have survived without the helicopter’s help. I was winched into the helicopter. The ambulance could not get up the hill. 17:42
