Hammocks and a canoe in the BWCA

Spending time with my son Zac. Who was out of the country for four years. In the Boundary Waters Canoe Area ( BWCA ). Which is in northern Minnesota. The BWCA is a wilderness area in which no motorized vehicle is allowed. Only hiking, canoeing or kayaking. In the winter time it is only snowshoeing, cross country skiing.
We stared out with rain and very high winds. To blue sky and puffy white clouds. Join us on our journey though this beautiful land.

@@AdventureswiththeMarine the fishing was slow compared to past trips at the same time of year. Numbers were down, but the quality made up for it. We never did manage to find any consistant walleye action, just one here and there....lotsa big smallies though. Very few northerns. We did cook fish 3 evenings.

Another great trip, thanks for sharing the adventure. I love getting out with my sons. If that's a ursack bear bag, it's made from high grade Spectra fabric. The fellow who makes Ursack also makes a Kevlar version, called a critter bag, I think.the kevlar version will keep the small critters out, but is not bear resistant like the spectra versions. I have one like yours, and it has worked so far, but, like your's, mine hasn't been tested. I have seen one KZread'er say that he knew of a failure. Anyway, thanks for another adventure.

Hey Marine, beautiful stuff, thanks for posting. One thing I might suggest is the use of a sea anchor to control drift in the canoe. Rig it on a bridle from the front and rear and you can control your angle to the wind and slow your drift rate for much better fishing time. 👍

I've never seen a bear bag tied to a tree like that. We usually hoist ours up in the air so it's 12' high and about 6' out from the trunk of the tree... Have you ever experienced issues with bears in the BWCA (In the 4 trips I've taken, I've never seen one nor seen evidence of one in a campsite we were in, though one year we did skip a campsite that had a lot of fresh scat and berry plants...)

The Ridgerunner can be used year round.I have used it in the winter time. One of my favorites. The reason I use it for summer time is that it has the low cut sides that not only gives you a great view but also lets in a good breeze on a hot night like no other hammock. I don't like to use a bug net. But if I do. The Ridgerunner is the best. I have many hammocks that I use them for different times of the year. And for different situations. If you where to get only one hammock. This is one of the best. You can't beat those saddle bags. Thank you for watching Nathan. I always appreciate it.
