    Well that sir was a mighty fine instalment and love, LOVE the love for Hammer... Watched many as a young one growing up as my folks would record them off of late night TV here in the UK for me (Dracula: Prince of Darkness being a personal favourite)! Keep up the good work sir and so happy to see the channel growing! :)

    I came here just to see some Hammer media collections. I had no idea it was imported from my homeland. You're correct, Fife is to the north of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital. Edinburgh's a tricky name to say right. It's basically "Edin-borough", but the locals say it fast like "Brah". You live here long enough, you learn to adapt 😄

Very cool that you live in that area. Hammer is quintessentially English, but I’ve always felt connected to it. Maybe because I love Doctor Who so much.

    Cereal At Midnight Yep, You're right. The House That Dripped Blood was Amicus. I'm sure you have seen or heard of some of Tigon's movies. Famous ones include Witchfinder General and Blood on Satan's Claw. And of course the "gothic era" of the 4th Doctor's stories were heavily influenced by the Hammer films. Makes Britian look like the haunted Island. ;)

On another subject, i saw all 7 seasons of Tale From The Crypt at the used dvd store yesterday, but the guy is selling them 15$ each, which is way too high, so i didn't get them. But it's now on my wishlist on amazon

    I have the Blu-ray Legacy sets of the mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man. I had the dvd sets for the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Invisible Man, but I sold them when they announced the Legacy Blu sets of those. Then it came out that the Creature set is messed up and a replacement disc program is underway, so I’m holding off. I’ll probably just buy the corrected set and the invisible man set whenever that happens. I have the previous universal monsters box set, so then I would have everything. But I will say that I do feel like I’ve been punished by Universal for buying each of their Legacy sets along the way. I would rather have had the box set with everything all in one package and that exclusive booklet.

    Hello. This is a lovely little channel. I live in England in the UK and we are very proud of our Hammer horror films. It’s always heartwarming to see how well they are appreciated across the pond in the USA. The cut-out section in the bottom of the DVD case was for a plastic security tag to be inserted. They are normally taken out at the cash out when the customer purchases the product. You got this for a very good price. Currently this is around £35, that’s as of October 2019 (which is about $45). Having not explored all your videos yet, I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Hammer House of Horror? It was a 13 part TV series shown in the UK in 1980. It’s really worth checking out if you can. Some of the story themes are lycanthropy, cannibalism, Satanism.

    You are correct...the rights to Hammer are all over the place. I think Columbia bought the rights to the first couple of US releases, then Universal wanted a slice of Hammer pie when they were successful and their next release was a Frankenstein movie. Most of the major studios own the rights and some have fallen into public domain. I have a complete set of Hammer on DVD and it is literally three feet long sourced from every possible place; a few I had to get burnt onto DVD-R by the studios as they are not well known enough to be commercially viable. It's a nice idea to have a complete boxset, but it would cost a lot and a lawyer would get very rich sorting out all the rights issues.

    I appreciate your knowledge on the matter. I have about forty Hammer films on DVD and Blu-ray and they’re from so many different companies that it’s kind of ridiculous. My first Hammer purchase was Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter and it’s still a favorite of mine.

  • @DarthPerkins

    @DarthPerkins

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@CerealAtMidnight You probably know this, but that was supposed to be the start of a new franchise. Kronos was supposed to step into a time portal at the end of the film and be revealed as a time-traveling vampire hunter. That's why he was called 'Kronos'. Subtle. Hammer was struggling at the time so wanted sure-fire hits, abandonded any sequel and went back to Frankenstein and TV adaptations (Monster from Hell and Man About the House). John Cater is in it...a fantastic, quirky actor worth watching in anything (he's in a Phibes film) and of course Caroline Munroe is in her prime here. She winked at me at a convention once...given the length of my relationships that's virtually married.

    @@CerealAtMidnight The Carol/wink incident is on my business card. I call her Carol now, being as we're so close. Yes, everybody says she's really nice, willing to talk and spend time and, possibly most importantly to people like us, willing to talk about her films, even the bad ones. Another really warm, just all-round nice human being to his fans is William Forsyth, I wasn't a huge fan of his until I saw him just taking over a room and talking to three hundred people like they were old friends. And John Saxon is also awesome. And Richard Keel. And Ian McCulloch. I was a huge fan when the show was new and I watched it faithfully all the way through season five, when the show creator finished his story and left. I tried to watch season six, but it felt like the life of the show had left it and I lost interest. Season 1-5 felt like they had a real purpose and were going somewhere. Season six felt like it was just being padded and was going nowhere. Does that make sense? And did it ever get any better?

    It did make sense. The show got better, the religion aspect, without being preachy, is amazing. And the lore episodes are great too. Watch Season 9, episode 4 'Slumber Party.' That's one of my favorite episode.

    Yep your Scottish geography was correct. An X cetificate is equivalent to a modern U.K 18 certificate (it changed to 18 around 1984). Probably these films would be rated a lot lower now. U.K X and now 18 certs have never had the problem with perception that your NC 17 certs have. So Not a commercial death for films so filmmakers are fine with them to be rated such.

    I imported it from Amazon.co.uk. It's always cheaper to import things like that yourself than to pay Amazon US prices. You will need a region free DVD player, though. I was able to unlock one of my DVD players by finding a code online. Here's a link to the Amazon UK listing: www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Hammer-Collection-Terence-Fisher/dp/B00F4U8ZRQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537708173&sr=8-1&keywords=hammer+ultimate+collection

    I love Hammer Horror. I remember watching these movies on cold Saturday afternoons with some popcorn and a cup of hot chocolate when I was a kid. There was a channel that showed a Creature Feature every Saturday back in the 70s. I always loved the creepy atmosphere, color grading and camera work on Hammer films.

    TL;DR, I had a coffee-table book about horror films when I was younger and it referenced Hammer a good bit. I also appreciated the "vampire"/Morticia-Addams-style aesthetic, though I wasn't a "Goth" in the sense you'd think. I will get you the title of said book because it is something of a reference/cinephile volume as well.

    I have low expectations for Viking Queen, but I do love exploitation and sixties cinema. I tend to really connect to low budget and B movies, and that's the kind of thing that makes me happy these days. I'll probably circle back around and talk about these movies after I've watched them all, but Viking Queen won't have to do much to make me feel like I got my $1.50 worth.

    Your Chris Lee sounds more like Hugo Weaving. Say, "Mr. Anderson" in that voice and you'll see what I mean. But look it this way:. You didn't loose a Lee, you gained a Weaving. Hmmm ... that sounds weird. Anyway, just discovered the channel and I'm enjoying catching up on all your older vids. Great stuff.

    Talking of age ratings , i see in America u have no age ratings on your dvds Here in Britain age ratings are plastered on every inch of the dvd 😂. That one I think is an 18

  • @CerealAtMidnight

    @CerealAtMidnight

    In America, they’re on the back in very small print. You’re right, Britain and even Europe in general makes the age rating bigger than the box. Germany’s is like half the case!
