@@dealwithit207 The problem is that to be a good politician you actually need a variety of skills, vision in terms of what you wish for, analytical skills to see what's going well or badly and understand why, communication skills to share your ideas with other politicians and the public, ability to work with other people to get some kind of consensus, management skills to oversee civil servants and government departments. As soon as you start trying to introduce 'positive discrimination' and say well wouldn't it be nice if we had more working class politicians (cough cough Angela Rayner) or women or ethnic minorities, you reduce the pool of people with all those skills or even some of them, as those skills are not commonly found in one individual. As for being a nice person, well yes it probably helps, as does integrity, but you need a lot of other attributes too.
