Perfect example of "approach and retreat". It really is ok to retreat when a foal gets worried, you won't teach them bad habits. They will appreciate that you understand their concern, and gain trust in you. I know a lot of people are adamant that you must keep applying pressure until the horse 'does the right thing", but with foals in particular that method can really backfire.

I got my first yearling three days ago. My sister was so big on your videos and we both learned so much from you, but I've never had my own young unhandled horse before. I'm terrified I'm going to mess up, so now I'm going through all your foal videos. My colt is super curious, he sniffed my face for the first time yesterday then immediately went and rolled right next to me. I was so happy to see him do that <3

The way you're raising this guy is really interesting to follow. Such a different school of thought from a lot of foal raising.

I haven’t been following you recently, so I don’t know what happened to the mare’s tail. It looks pretty bad.
