Halo is Gaming culture. Halo 1 and 2 are great, Halo Reach is also extremly Good and Halo 3 is a Masterpace…but the show is a huge disrespect. Cortana is weird and somehow in chiefs head, then there is the thing with the blessed one, the covenant know that the Ring is an weapon, why is Captain keys black and the Master Chief without helmet just doesn‘t feel right. He has a completly different Character. He talks to much, where are the iconic one liners. There is no Original Halo music. There are so many questions. Why we need with Kai, Riz and Vannak Three new Spartans? Silver Team instead of Blue Team ( Linda, Fred and Kelly) there is no Point why they shoud do this. Cortana as a replacent vor Johns mind was weird enough but Master Chief is more like Master chief when Cortana takes over.

Looking forward to season 3. But the games are better for sure. They need to lean more into the lore and music and they'll get there I reckon. But as an almost 40 year old, huge halo fan from day 1, yeah this show is finally something akin to the games and story I fell in love with 20+ year ago

See, I know this show gets a lot of hate - but I actually really enjoyed it. Ok kwon story should of been axed from it, that was silly - but as for the rest it was a damn good show, the props and CGI were amazing, the battle scenes were brilliant, and even that scene with Kai lifting the warthog was perfect military humour. This show got so much right, it was a shame they changed so much of established lore for it. That was my only real issue with it, Halo lore gives you the perfect story, no need to change a damn thing.

I agree with you and @rianmacdonald9454. The only part I disagree is the part about a direct translation of lore to the show. Many fans wanted this, but that is not what the show was about. Personally, I think it is better as a standalone timeline. This is not supposed to be the Chief we knew. This story is about John and discovering who he is because we get to see him discover himself. Most fans are opposed to this (intentionally or unintentionally) because John was mostly a vessel for the player, someone we could always step into, someone very relatable because he didn’t have a complex personality in the games, so he was easy for us to embody. When 343 took over, they moved toward showing Chief’s individuality apart from the player through Halo 4 and a failed attempt to continue in Halo 5. Why? Because the fans shut it down by complaining about Halo 4. Personally, I enjoyed the way they were going with Chief. However, since that is the main timeline and people were dissatisfied, they went back on that direction. That’s fine and all, but with the show though, they were able to make the Chief an individual because it was a different timeline and version of the Chief. This is the direction they started to go, as I mentioned earlier with Halo 4, but in an extreme way. It is the “What If” of Halo. It is a shame that many fans couldn’t see that. I am not saying the show doesn’t have some flaws, especially with Kwan Ha, but it is about John. Overall, I liked it, I’m glad it brought Halo to the mainstream public, and I hope to see more in the future to expand upon that presence.

If you enjoy this show I won't (and obviously can't) take that away from you nor do I want to, however this Show is a terrible representation of what Halo that's an objective fact, it completely disregards Lots of pre established rules such as John not having his face revealed and the covenant not allying themselves with humans under any circumstances, it's an absolutely terrible adaptation however once again if despite that you enjoy it that's fine, just don't say "they did a great job" when referring to them turning the game into a series because it's not good at that at all and fails in every regard except Halsey's character (mostly) and the fight scenes

This video captures the positives within the series, yes its not perfect, and it seems that in the modern day it's always about concentrating on the negatives and completely ignore the positives. I have hope for season 2 and beyond, and it feels that future seasons will add more elements from the game, but for me, being a fan from the beginning, I expected it to be so unbelievably bad due to the hate but was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to season 2. Fantastic video, exceptionally done 👏

I for one genuinely enjoyed this show, Makee & John's parallel childhood, destiny and romance ❤️ I feel like he died in his soul when he seen her dead, hence his choice to let Cortana take over. But now for season two, they have the perfect story building for how and why the Covenant came in such a strong force to Reach, why John was in cryo sleep at the end of "Reach"(I'm thinking they brought him back, and separated Cortana in the process)

Show was bad and lazy, John was done dirty with his constant outburst, lack of critical thinking and strategy, out of character, totally not behaving like a Spartan and his constant helmet removal was just shocking. Plot was silly and lazy, that John sex scene was unnecessary. The show should have been focused on action, more covenant/Spartan battle scenes, Kwan side story was completely irrelevant to the plot and yet it was given more screen time than. The show was awful plain and simple.

I would like to know why they chose to not follow the story, i bet there is a logical explanation. However I settle for this new story, i like the actor, and the whole cast to be honest. I like the special effects, the armor, everything. I only hope the 2nd part comes with more battles instead of a love story. Nice vid!

I love Halo, but I’m not even convinced that a show 100% adapted like “The Last of Us” would do well. There are a lot of people who played the games and never touched the campaign. A better adaptation would be to follow the books, but there are alot of “fans” who haven’t read those either. Halo as a game and as a book are two very different things and this show has proven a lot of “fans” wouldn’t know what lore was, if it hit them in the face. I’m not excusing this mess of a show. I just don’t think a shot for shot adaptation of the game would work for the general audience. Sure fans will like it, but they want a show that gets more views than just a few thousand fans, who actually care about Halo lore and not just multiplayer.

There's a few good reasons why "following the story" would not have been so simple. For many people, Halo's story is what happens in the games. You can't turn the plot of the games into a non-interactive medium without pulling in additional info, characters and side plots from the extended universe, but then you would have to cover a timeframe of 30 years. In the end you have to make a decision: stay close to the game plot/story and twist it into another medium, or break it apart from the get go and form a narrative that works in a serial non-interactive format. Personally, I like the first season, I just want more space battles, on a scale as seen in babylon 5 for example. Especially universe as described in the Halo novels offers so much potential for semi-hard SciFi goodness.

Once I found out Chief was the main character I was like it’s either going to be great or just spit in my eyes and make me weep. For the sake of people creating shows out of lore deep universes it’s tough cause I find most studios just throw out a lot of stuff for what seems to be the sake of it. It can kind of feel like they miss the energy and soul of what makes people love the games story and the books. I think taking a page from the books would have been the best bet. Completely forget Chief and the known protagonists. One of my favourite maybe my favourite books was the Cole protocol. Halo has a rich enough universe to tell some great stories that can fit well within the universe. Plus you don’t run the risk of getting too in the deep end with beloved characters. It lets you do a little of what you want but still being kind to long time fans.

If you watched the last of us tv show you probably got the same feeling i did : it was just a copy and paste of the game, and that means it's kinda lacking in originality, even if it was a good product. Halo on the other side created a unique product since it's non canon.

I really don’t get the hate for this show. Y’all do know that any movie adaptation is never the perfect mirror to it’s original right? That’s always the biggest complaint when games or books are turned to movies and shows. The movies are based of the writers and directors interpretation. And this is a pretty good show. It’s nothing at all what would really happen bud in itself it is a good show you just can’t hold onto the games and books so hard. You’ll never get a movie adaptation that mirrors its original perfectly. You get what you get and you grow tf up and don’t throw a fit about it.

Can't wait for season 2. This show is awesome. Everyone just love to complain now for anything.

It was the first time ever that I could get immersed totally into the "picture" instead of being pulled out here and there, because some flaw would remind me that it's CGI. As a fan of the halo series, i dont understand how people liked the show. If you go from the books, wildly different. No where close to master chief. If you go from the games, very different. Also, a fundamental misunderstanding of who Halsey is. The series portrayed her as an unfeeling person. Very much the monster they claimed the spartans were. The reason that we, the fans, wanted this made into a live action was it's a great story. So they take that story and shit all over it? No, this series was made for people who don't know what halo is and to damage another great series.

Soy un fan de los videojuegos fue por Halo que dejé el play station, tengo todas las ediciones legendarias de los videojuegos y el simple y sencillo hecho de que en la serie cambien un pequeño pero imprescindible aspecto del videojuego me hace aborrecer la serie. El jefe maestro jamás a mostrado su rostro, solo en una pequeña serie de cuando era niño y su entrenamiento se mostró pero jamas en su edad juvenil y menos adulta. Ese pequeño aspecto hace que no me den ganas ni de ver el primer capítulo.

Yes. The two actors playing Master Chief and Vannak are around 6-4 or 6-5. The two actresses playing Riz and Kai are over 6-1. The other cast are a bit shorter. It would be hard finding a bunch of good actors that are 7 feet tall.

Pablo Schreiber gave a really good performance as chief struggling between his humanity and his abilities as a Spartan. Wonder if he’ll now be more cold and inhuman in season 2 given how season 1 ended.

Without one Master Chief left, and there are many, there will be no survival for humanity!

True Halo fans of the game will tell you the Helmet does not come off. That is what makes the master cheif who he is. The source material and how to make even a TV show is there let alone a really good trilogy movie. But no, the last 20 plus years of Halo material is there and they still get it wrong. I was one of the excited fans like so many others and as soon as we heard the helmet came off, it was a big nope and what a let down it was for so many hard core fans.

There are no "True Halo Fans" you either love Halo or you don't, this mentality is the reason why fans leave not 343, Microsoft, Bungie, etc.
