Halo Infinite's Campaign Soundtrack has been officially released and I've got to say it's absolutely incredible. It is pure Halo and I'm soooo pleased with it 😍 The three composers, Joel Corelitz, Curtis Schweitzer and Gareth Coker have done a fantastic job with this soundtrack. Let me know which one becomes your favourite :)

As a musician, this ost is vastly underrated. The way it manages to take parts of older Halo ost works and turn them into brand new melodies, while feeling like proper modern music and has so many emotional highs. This ost could have backed a great film and it would have earned an oscar. It's a shame game journalists dont understand great music

What weighed heavily on Halo 4 and 5 was the soundtrack. It's horrible in every aspect, in many places I don't even notice the soundtrack. Totally inconsequential soundtrack of Halo 4 and 5. The soundtrack of Infinite has improved a lot compared to the previous two games, but so much costs to hire Martin O'donnell again?

Beat the campaign the other night, definitely one of my favorite Halo campaigns. Really loved how many musical callbacks there were, while still having its own take on things. Definitely a huge improvement over 4 & 5's directions in terms of OST, in my opinion. I liked some songs from those games too, but Infinite's OST really just feels so much more classic Halo-y to me. When that Halo 2 credits motif came up at the end though, got hyped as fuck.

"Zeta Halo" (6:48) is my new favorite version of the Iconic song. it keeps the original chorus at the beginning which is great. But the last half, with the female chorus added, just adds an extra level of peacefulness and tranquility. Makes me imagine myself walking into a church like structure, with light shining through the Stain Glass Windows, each of a image of Master Chief's great battles. And towards the back center, where the cross would be, instead would be a Statue of our Savior, Master Chief himself, one foot forward, Assault Rifle in hand looking up towards the sky at the ready for any threats to come down upon us.

I just hit that part of the campaign. I hopped in the tank, started rolling down the road to the enemy base and this theme started blaring through my headphones. So many enemies along the path that had dogged me for most of the game, just laying waste with the tank's main gun and the theme pounding away. The most pure Halo experience I've had since Arrival in Halo 4.

My favorite halo infinite tracks - The road (Do I even have to describe how much I love this one.) - Escharum (I love the barbaric tone of this one, it just suits the brutes and the banished so well) - Under Cover (the perfect night theme,, easily the best version of this soundtrack since CE) - Hunters Dance (might not be a one to one remake of the covenant dance, but it still hits hard.) - Spire (this soundtrack is so CE and halo 2 forerunner, reminds me of wondering through the forerunner structures in those games.) - Echo 216 (Reminds me of the Military side of halo from the bungie days) - The Tower (another great Military track, gives me some more WWll vibes) - Endless (this one is pretty unique, though it's more 343 era, it still has it's touch of the bungie era) - Silent Auditorium (343 era halo vibes with a bit of magistic fantasy, also is it just me that got minecraft vibes from this) - Never tell me the odds (on a pale horse vibes, this probably my favorite track from Infinite, its just so epic) - Gbraakon Escape (reminds me of unyielding from halo 2) - Excavation site (loved this one from the campaign footage) - We do it together (did anyone catch the halo 3 intro music in this one) - Know My Legend (those chords from Floodgate still give the chills) Man there's so much good about this soundtrack for this game, I love all of them. It's such a great mix of both eras of halo, and mashes so well.

Fast forward 14 years later, playing Halo Infinite on a series s, I got those 2004 -7 vibes again and it made me tear up knowing that some of the best memories that I made was with myself playing the best games of the generation. The soundtrack gave me flashback of memories of the fights with flood and covenant brutes and me trying so hard on legendary to finish them off. Memories of me playing alone learning lessons from a fictional game. Master chief gives us inspiration in real life to stay hopeful, struggle hard for this life and next life no matter what the odds. Man. Sequence at 1:24:03 just puts you in a trance. What a great track and great atmosphere. And Test of Mettle at 1:56:58….damn that could be transposed straight into a metal song that punches you right in the face. Almost sounds like the orchestral equivalent of a Tool song or something. Never Tell Ne the Odds at 1:50:11, LOVE that 7/8 with some clever hihat licks on the drum kit. This soundtrack is a banger. One of the best ever.

This game's soundtrack is so damn wonderful. There were times I was listening to it and was like "Oh yeah that's Gareth" "Ay this was for sure Curtis". Those 2 in particular (the composers of Ori and Starbound) were such good picks for this project and they did so damn great with not making things too busy. Just enough to keep things tribal, hopefull, and atmospheric.

Not one to leave reviews but after playing a Halo campaign for the first time since Halo 3 I was blown away by the OST. I am listening to it non stop because it is that good. This is the first time since Halo 3 that I felt like I was playing a Halo game and the music is 100% a huge part of that. I will say that "Through the Trees" puts chill bumps on my arms as does "Judgment". Very much hope the composers see these comments, they guys understood O'Donnell and Salvatori's original works the way others didn't.

Really love the new endless themes, honestly this game feels like the proper transition we all needed into a new era of halo,we have to move on and cant keep recycling the past. 343 managed to take inspiration from all the past Halo games and combine it into a new experience. Now that Halo has finally found its identity again I can't wait for DLC and Halo the endless or Halo infinte 2.

The first few songs kicked me back in time, back before the pandemic, before picking up an alcohol issue, before shit got real bad... To a time when I actually enjoyed life. When I had mornings where I woke up, stretched and sighed. Not in pain or stiffness, but in excitement. "What'll I do today?" I wondered often as a child. Then I got older. Lived a little. Life became far less sunny, and more... Stormy. The light of youthful optimism amd innocence gave way to the cynical, jaded gray clouds of my teen years.. Only to fall into a black storm of pain, depression, and self-disappointment that is my adult years thus far. This... Helps me relax some.

I enjoyed Halo 4's for what it was but I thought Halo 5's soundtrack was mostly a let down when compared to previous entries, but this soundtrack is such a return to form and honestly rivals the best in the series. All the composers knocked it out of the park.

@@themostselfishman It just didn't have the 'sound' of Halo. I honestly recall very little of the Halo 5 soundtrack. It just didn't stick with me at all on the first play through. (probalby in part because I disliked the campaign so much) .....And I don't intend to play it again to give it another chance. But I pulled up the tracks you listed. There are some classic Halo motifs (along with some reprisals from Halo 4) within the songs....but by and large they just miss the mark for sounding like Halo. Take 'The Trials'. It has the warthog run music in it. But it honestly just sounds like a clustered mess a good portion of the time. It is either fighting with other themes or even just fighting among itself with the constant crescendoing trombones (and I usually love loud trombone parts!!) Marty gave the games a distinctive and fairly consistent sound especially with Halo 1-3. Halo 4 and 5 diverge away from that even though they do still incorporate some of the original music. Halo Infinite does a really good job of recapturing the sound of Halo 1-3 and running with it. That said, Halo 4 and 5 have some and good music in them. Tracks like '117 ' in Halo 4 are genuinely great all around. But you just can't beat climbing to the peak of a mountain in Infinite and have the classic halo monk chant start playing as you scan the vista.

@@kennygraham4067 I am enjoying the Halo Infinite soundtrack. I think we probably evaluate the soundtrack and games with different criteria. I tend not to emphasize sounding like halo as a criteria because it doesn't diminish the enjoyment for me and I tend to crave something novel. Halo Infinite again strikes this satisfying balance for many people and I can't help but be pleased as well. I also love to listen to the tracks outside of the games so I want them to have a stand alone level of emotional pull. Halo 5 does have unique and interesting tracks like Osiris suite 1, Covenant prayers, the ones I mentioned above and many more. I also believe that other than some emotional beat flaws and obscuring some of the story, Halo 5 had a better plot and better plot execution than Halo 3, but I understand this is heresy and few share that opinion. And finally, I probably enjoy discord (in the musical sense) more than the average person, so clashing counter melodies get me hype. I also love To Galaxy, Awakening, and Revival on Halo 4, and 117 as you highlighted, is both the best track of the Halo franchise and the best use technically in game (imo). Kazuma Jinnouchi, its composer, also did the halo 5 soundtrack and it breaks my heart that he isn't better recognized and appreciated for it, though I understand that we like what we like, and if you didn't enjoy the campaign then it can be harder to give the soundtrack a shot.

@Imprudent Peter Yeh it is definitely a case of using different criteria. I almost exclusively listen to video game and movie soundtracks. I like the tracks to stand on their own and be a good listen without the film/game accompanying them. But, the music is enhanced for me when it can call me back to memorable moments, scenes, or feelings from the game/movie. So it is a really tough sell for the music to stand out to me if I disliked the game or even if I have never played the game. One of the few exceptions to this is Chrono Cross. I have never played it, but some of that music is simply divine (especially the title theme). The fact that halo 5 fell so incredibly flat for me pretty much guarantees the soundtrack also won't rank all that highly for me. Now, if it evoked more of the classic halo feel in it's soundtrack, then it could have piggybacked on my love for Halo 1-3 and whatever changes were done to enhance the old songs would just be icing on the cake for me. Halo 4 also feel flat for me in a lot of ways. But there are some moments in the game that I absolutely adore. Everytime I hear the 117 theme start playing, it takes me back to when it starts up during the 'give me that chip' scene. Which I love. 117 has bonus points for me because, to me, it just sounds 'right' alongside alot of the older halo stuff. I like some of the other tracks you mention too, such as arrival. But arrival just sounds like generic epic song to me. I still enjoy it, but it just doesnt feel like Halo.

Gbraakon is probably my favourite opening mission of the series, even beating out pillar of autumn - very similar vibes, but turned up to 11. Also, The Tower is one of the best OSTS and I wish the mission was a little longer so you can really appreciate it, although I guess it was kind of the introduction to the open world + that section below the tower in addition to the actual tower gameplay
