I agree with others on leaving the white trim as to not fuss with where to stop. It looks awesome with the contrast thus far and dark hardware. The light fixtures, accent wall and artwork will add to the layers of look you are going for. Looking fabulous. Thank you for sharing.
I liked the way the trim painted in the guest room around the closet looks, the transition to the white baseboards looks great. I would paint the trim around the hallway doors.
I love your channel. I would paint the trim to match the doors. I just changed my door knobs to black and it made a huge difference. Now I just have to talk my son (he's a contractor) into painting the doors a color. He wasn't a fan of that idea but I reminded him he is the contractor and I am the designer...LOL

🤣🤣🤣 imagine being the contractor AND the designer! The designer part of me says “this will look so good” but the contractor is saying “it’s so much work!!”
I had the same dilemma in remodeling and updating our new home which was built in the 70s. I left the trim white. The anxiety of trying to figure out where to stop was just too much. I'm so glad I did. It is a nice contrast that I love once I just walked away and lived with it for a while.

That’s great advice- walk away and live with something for a while. I always feel like I need to figure something out immediately. I’m not very patient.

@@KelseyRomitoDIY I’m not either! The struggle is real 😂 But my anxiety is higher than my impatience so it won that round.
Love the door color, I would paint the trim also ;)
You did a great job and this look is what I deal with 3 doors in one haul so I am going to be doing the same thing and even spray painting the knobs thank you so much for sharing!
Love as is. When you change the lights that'll be the cherry on top! Looks lush ❤️
I'd keep the trim white but if you want to bring more interest to the hallway maybe add a chair rail and wallpaper the bottom half choosing one that incorporates the jogging path color.
Perfect hallway for wainscoting.
Kelsey, your question raised "should I paint the door frames to match the new door colour on my upstairs hallway"? I would say they are perfect the way you have done them. Otherwise, you would need to paint the skirting. Looking forward to the rest of the hall makeover.
I love the color you painted the doors and also love the black hardware. I’m like you, I’d leave the decision of whether or not to paint the trim until later. Live with it for awhile. I can’t wait to see the other elements you change. 😊❤😊
Leave the trim white it has made a nice difference I can’t wait to see the lighting! I know it’s going to be beautiful!

Love the new look! I would paint the frames to match the doors. You have used a beautiful color, and I believe painting the frames the same color would make a beautiful statement…
No frames,just the doors.So nice!!!!

Love your projects and energy, the doors are beautiful but unfinished- yes, paint the frames
Okay hear me out... black trim around the doors! It would be like a frame, you could also add a bit extra trim to the top, elevating the doorway like in the entryway, and it would tie in the little pops of black in the hardware. I definitely feel like a digital mock up first would be necessary but in my mind it looks great and super original

Love the idea of adding the tops to the doors!
That Jogging Path paint color is so soothing; natural looking. I can’t wait to see the next part too. If it were me, I’d wait until the final part of the redo to decide about painting the frames. It won’t be much work and definitely worth the wait to decide if that’s what you really want. Question: How long can you keep the paint brushes/rollers sealed up in your frig like that?
@KelseyRomitoDIY

I’ve kept mine in there for months. Eventually they start drying out but it takes a long time.
Ooo I can't wait to see the focal wall!!! Next week can't come fast enough! ❤️
I really liked that guest bedroom color. Good call with bringing it out into the hall. NOTETOSELF: jogging path 😊👍🏾
YES! On the top of my list is painting my upstairs hallway and turning the not so natural looking trim/doors anymore to white (as I have done in 3 of my 4 bedrooms already). Also gonna try for the 1st time to switch out the original 1960ish light. So this video couldn’t have come at a better time you dear person you! Thank you. And I would leave the trim around doors white, but love the contrasting doors!

I agree with one person, I can't find her comment. But, she said wait for now. And that is good advice. You can revisit the trim color later, perhaps after the accent wall is finished. It looks great now also.
Looking mighty fine as usual! I like the contrast of the white frame of the doors. I am very excited to see what you do with the hallway! I hope you have a great week!

I'm excited to see it done! ❤️❤️❤️
Paint the frames! The trim will painted will make the doors look more substantial and painting the baseboards will give the hallway a very nice contrast that is really needed.
I love the color you painted the doors and door knobs! I think the white trim looks good. I can’t wait to see what else you are going to do to the hallway! The items you showed, I know is going to be absolutely gorgeous! You never disappoint! Looking forward to the next video! Your videos are so inspiring and motivating! Thanks for sharing! 😊

Looking great so far, can't wait for next week. I would paint the trim around the doors. But I don't think it looks bad if you don't.
I like the doors painted. My first reaction was to paint the trim, but maybe sit with it for a while and see how you feel about it down the road. I love the black knobs and hinges, I made a comment about them back in your piano room video a while back and hope to change my old gold ones out eventually. Lol
I would paint the trim jogging path, it makes more of an impact! Love that color
Maybe you could paint just one door frame and give it some time to see what you like better, easy to change back if you don't like it. I think opening up the pony wall too would make a big difference, it kind of dates the space as well as blocks light. It would seem so much airier, larger and open. Love your work!
I love the Jogging Path and black hardware. I think it would look best to paint both sides of the doors. Then paint the frames and baseboards a lighter version of Jogging Path with 50% white. Then you’ll have a nice three color combo.
I say wait to see at the end of the project if you paint frames. For now, I’m thinking don’t! Can’t wait to see what you do with the accent wall!!
Chellooooo Kelsey!!! "WE" LOL did it!!! 20K & congrats. Joking about the we part but, really hoping my liking & commenting do help the engagement. You guys put in so much effort to produce content along with actually doing the projects. Looking forward to catching on on the 2 videos. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Waiting is good, but I think you'll end up wanting to paint the trim To match the doors. Love your ideas!
I would paint the trim and replace the bottom molding then paint the molding same color as the doors. This will give it a more high end look.
I love the doors only painted. Beautiful

You are great! I've been foiling my pan and bagging up my brushes and rolls for about 30 years. It all goes into the fridge in a bag. That works so perfectly. In fact, I just removed my bag of pan, brushes, and roller from the fridge yesterday. After weeks of waiting for me to return to that project, nothing was dried out. No smell in the fridge either! I also add Vanellia to my paint to keep the smell fresh. Love your stuff. (I need to grab that paint can topper. My nemesis, is a messy paint can!) Thanks for your tips! Cathleen

@@KelseyRomitoDIY Can't take the credit ...got it from the Rehab Attic, Nicole several years ago. Works like a charm:)
I think it would be a great idea to open up that pony wall like you did downstairs it would light so much light into that hallway. Just a thought if you had it in the budget, would you change all the trim out to the wide craftsman style trim like you put in your sons room, that would be such a statement and you have painted all the baseboards in your home. Did you ever think about updating them to the wider trim? That would also make a big difference these are just my thoughts. I just thought I’d share them with you. I love what you do. I look forward to you every week, keep up the good work. See you next week.

Awesome video Kelsey.
If it were me, I’d finish out the project THEN decide about the door trims. As the old saying goes “sometimes less is more.” Then, if you decide the door trims would look better painted, do one door. If you hate it, you only have one to repaint. Can’t wait to see the finished look! I have a feeling I’m going to love the accent wall!

Here is a idea can you take the ponywall out upstairs and do the black railing it will let more light upstairs and open your space up like you did your stairs just a thought . Also loving that color for our bedroom when we bought this house it's a milk chocolate color. That is a calming color for our room. Your doors look great I'm going black knobs as well . I would leave the frames white.

Me personally would leave the trim white. The doors pop already with the black door handles.
I would paint the frames.
was wishing you could somehow knock out the stairway wall and switch to rails but then you showed another pic and I see what a huge and maybe impossible project. Doors look nice maybe do the trim - I'm a reverse kinda person - white door/trim and that nice color on the wall - I will use your tips for repainting my trim and am now planning on replacing my 84 wooden balusters with metal - you inspire me!

Make sure to watch next week’s video. 😉😉
I think it looks good like it is. I wouldn't paint the door frames, wait and till everything else is done, then decide. Why paint if you don't have to, all those frames is a lot of work. The doors are just enough to set off from all the white. Just my thought.
Take off the trim and match it to what you did in the other rooms at the windows. Also, change out the Baseboards and paint all the same color as the doors. The Accent wall should be the same color as the doors and the opposing wall from the Accent wall. The hand railing of the half wall could be the same color as the doors to tie it all together and balance the hallway.
Leave the trim white 😉
Can’t wait until next week! Sneak peek showed brick is that for accent wall?? By the way Happy New Year!💜🎉🥳

Muy buen trabjo 👍🏼👏🏼
I have seen the painted door & trim trend all over social media but it's not something I would do. I think they've painted both sides of the door & the trim which, I don't think would work for what you're doing so I say, don't paint the trim. Will you be adding a narrow hall table on the landing wall? I think some nice wall art or a family picture gallery would be nice. I've always felt like wherever the bedrooms are, is the perfect space for family photos & the main living areas is where I display my art & home decor. I'm looking forward to seeing the next video!

I won’t be adding a table because it’s not a very big space and everyone makes a u turn there to get to the bedrooms. I will be adding artwork/family pics to the walls.

I think so too! I have a feeling once I switch out the lobby I will be doing lots of touch up paint because I couldn’t see in that dark back corner.

Paint the trim to match the doors
Love that jogging path color… is it Sherwin Williams? At first I thought paint the frames But once you added the black hardware the doors stood out more. Like some others have said wait a little and u decide! Is that brick gonna be your accent wall ? Can’t wait for part 2 !

Yep jogging path is a sherwin williams color. The brick will definitely be an accent. 😉😉
I would have painted the frames and baseboards in the jogging path and left the doors white with the black hardware.
Fantastic job as always, I think you should paint the door surround. You don't need to also paint the baseboard as the door surround is its own thing. I would stop exactly where you pointed out, where the door closes and leave the little part in the bedroom white. It will make the door more cohesive with painting the entire surround.

I would paint the trim, it makes the doors look wider. To me, it looks unfinished.
Paint the trim and paint the jams, stop at the door stop.
Paint the frames.
