I agree. The bicycle rims are a pain. And I only had 3 pulleys.. you have 7! I bet at times you were pulling your hair out when it would fall! Good video sir

Very Clever! Perhaps trim the sheets into a V-shape and fray the edges for a more ghostly shape. They kinda look a lot like sheets folded in half the way they are. But the pulley system is great!!

Very good pulley system. Awesome that you have 3 ghosts going at once. Just a little constructive criticism here though. #1 as others have said, your ghosts are going too slow. They don't have the flow that make them look convincing and creepy. #2 also as others have said, your ghosts just look like bed sheets that you have folded over a clothes line to dry. Give them some color, some shape, maybe some florescent paint #3 you didn't paint your supports black, I am sure they are more visible than they should be at night. Suggestion, glue some craft foam or felt around your rims, that will eliminate the "clink clink" noise as the fishing leads go around the rims. It will also give the fishing line some grip. You built a very impressive pulley system, but then it was like you said to yourself, "ok, I am done, it's good enough" and you just gave up. This is an awesome build, that could be even better if you put more time and effort into it. Thanks for sharing.

I have a wiper motor as well, how did you connect the drive bicycle wheel to the wiper motor? My drive screw on the wiper motor is smaller than the screw on the bicycle wheel

I was using 550 parachord on a 4" V belt pulley and it kept jumping off with a pretty light ghost, are my pulleys too small or rope too big?

Hi Rob, I'm not very familiar with the paracord but I suspect that if it's being used for parachutes, it's pretty strong. There are a number of factors that can cause the line to jump out of the pulleys: distance between pulleys, angle of the pulleys relative to the line as it enters/exits the pulley, weight of the ghost, wind, tightness of the line, width of the pulley opening, etc. It becomes a pretty sensitive system with all these variables. With my system, the most common reason the line has jumped out of the pulleys was the angle of the pulley relative to the line was not optimal--especially with the narrow pulleys (bicycle wheels). I could have the line angle in perfect alignment with the pulley, but as the ghost approached a pulley, the weight of the ghost--even very lightweight ghosts--caused the angle, or "droop" in the line, to change gradually as the ghost got closer to the pulley. (I hope that makes sense.) The difference in the line/pulley angle caused my ghosts to jump the pulleys quite a bit. Lots of frustration for me putting it back up again and again. This year I changed out several of the bicycle wheel pulleys for the wider and deeper lawnmower wheels. The bike wheels are about 1" wide and 1/2" deep inside the rim, but the lawnmower wheels are about 4" wide and 2" deep. This holds the line much, much better. It has made a very big difference with my system not dumping the ghosts much at all now. There is still the fine-tuning to be done, but the wider wheels/pulleys would probably give your system a lot more stability. Let me know how it goes! Jeff

I thought it would be easier to put a small electric motor in the ghost and have no pulleys Let it ride a stationary wire.

@@ViolentKisses87- yeah but then how does the ghost turn corners? The way it does now is it's tied to the main line with a short piece of fishing line, and that line can go around the bicycle wheel - if you know how to do your rail thing, with the ghost being below the line, I'd love to see it!

@MrBradparks No corners just a resistance switch. Hence it bumps the pole and returns back and forth.
